WxChaser Posted January 4, 2013 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Yesterday (and part of today when I was on surface streets) I noticed a whine from my 93 Pathfinder. Only seemed to happen between 45-49 MPH, and happened in any gear I was in (3,4,5). Don't think it was the transmission, but I wondered if it was those vents in the rear glass panels? Any insight? Slartibartfast Posted January 5, 2013 Share Posted January 5, 2013 I've never noticed noise from the vents on mine. In fact this is the first I've heard that they do anything at all, I always figured they were about as useful as the little vents on the hood! I had a whine in a certain RPM range a while back that turned out to be a failing timing belt tensioner. You say it's the same in different gears though so that doesn't sound like the problem.
