DantheMayun
Ok I put my 3 inch bl on and now my alternator will not charge my my battery and interior electric will not work. However, I found out when I rev my engine up to 6-7k everything turns on and stays working until I shut the engine off. Keep in mind I didn't have this problem until after my body lift and I cant seem to find the cause. I have no idea where to start to debug the problem I'm sort of an idiot when it comes to electric. Any help would be greatly appreciated I don't want to have to surrender my rig to a mechanic and deal with the embarrassment just yet.
ahardb0dy
I would start by checking the wiring to the alternator, the plug that goes into it may have pulled out slightly but still look like it is in all the way, that plug has a wire that basically tells the alternator when to "turn on" could be why nothing is working. DantheMayun
Tried it, its all tight. Also when I plug the battery in, unless the key is turned to ignition, the car will go into some sort of anti theft mode where all the lights flash and alarm goes off. What do you think I should look for next? Another side note not sure if related I jacked the right side up a bit to high when I did the body lift and I heard a snap but I couldn't find what it was. I'm guessing there has to be a broken wire somewhere because even with the battery plugged in nothing electrical will work, such as horn interior lights rear wiper all dash components. The only things that do work are the wind shield wipers and the light for the clock.
Slartibartfast
... yeah, the snap is probably the root of the problem! Maybe it's a ground? Worst case, get the wiring diagram from the FSM and test stuff until you find what's busted off.
ahardb0dy
the positive terminal at the battery has about 4 smaller wires coming off of it, possibly a few came out of one of the two plugs causing most of your electrical items not to work, and there may be one or two wires still connected allowing the items you say work to still work?? DantheMayun
Checked them, they're all tight. What do you think I should try next?
Slartibartfast
Crawl underneath and look for dangling wires/ground straps? Follow any wire you see, and make sure it's still attached?
DantheMayun
Couldn't find any... man this is turning into a pain. Where should I look next?
Tungsten
Is your amp indicator turning on during bulb check? Does the bulb check relay work? Are any of the fuses blown in the fuse box?
