Stock roof rack question

Recommended Posts

So everyone I had the roof rack that said Pathfinder along the side with front air dam that said Nissan. I'm sure you all know the one. What I did was took that off as I really disliked the way it looked. What I'm wondering is, is there supposed to be some kind of end caps in the front and rear where the rail ends??? Mine, underneath the rack I took off, just stop abruptly, by that I mean there's a gap where it looks like there should be a end cap of sorts?? If there is supposed to be something there does anyone know the part number? Looks better without the big goofy one but now looks incomplete like something is missing. I'll try and take a picture tomorrow if I remember to display what I'm referring to. Thanks everyone

Did you take off the whole roof rack, or just the front air dam? I like that stock roof rack. Came out a year or two after my model year (2001).

If you're taking the whole rack off, I'd be interested in buying it off you!

I would have loved to sell it to ya but the front black plastic clips broke off when I took it off, really pissed me off because now I have to leave it off as it would look really bad without those black plastic pieces on it. Sorry man

My rack has some factory plastic pieces that slide in and had 1 screw to hold em in place. You may can find some at a junk yard.

You wouldnt happen to have a close up picture of that laying around would ya? I'd really like to see this as getting really close to a random pathfinder in a parking lot somewhere may get the PD called on me.

That screw for the black end cap is a son of a bitch to get back on! the nut or whatever it screws into doesn't seem to be held up by anything on my rig, so as soon as I try to put the screw back it has nothing to screw into. I have my caps back on but they aren't screwed down. I'll take a photo to show you what I mean.

What ya want for one of the sliding rails? I'm thinking of rigging a temporary light rack/system that I can put on when I know I'll be using them. That way I don't have the drag of the lights for daily driving

if you want to remove it completely, there are plugs that screw in where the mounts for yours are. makes it look a lot better without the black rail but its a pain in the butt to do

Well I went to pick n pull, they had a 1998 Pathfinder with the caps and the stock cross bars I'll try and get a picture tomorrow. Very happy with this set up as I really disliked the big bulky one that I took off. I wish I wouldn't have broke the other one as I probably could've sold it but what can I do.
