Sorry about the double post...steevo has an install write up and they were only Like $200 with gusset plates

Fixed that.

 

I have a set of them also, but unmounted. They are the 67" ones for a Toyota IIRC but fit well.

Unless you are quite fab experienced and have all the right tools/materials already, I doubt you could make a set cheaper than what they cost. They seem quite solid at a ship weight of almost 70(?)lbs.

I can get you some pictures if you need them.

Trail gear ones from Steevo. I also use them as jack points...

If I did it again I would mount them 72" wide to match my tire width. Right now they are about 1" narrower on each side (~70")

They make for good highlift jacking points...which is a must on the trail...I can lift from either side front or rear with my bumpers or sliders
