Where are all the 4 bangers?

I've been searching though the many sections of this forum and I have not come across any 4 cylinder pf's. I may be wrong but didn't Nissan put the ka24e in the wd21 also? I recently started mudding with a buddy of mine and I am interested in getting my first vehicle to tackle some puddles with. I've built a ka24de-t and I was planning a ka24e-t build for the pf but no one seems to have the 4 cylinder.... Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I was thinking a simple 50 trim on a log manifold with 370's or rx7 550's mega squirt and maybe pistons to start off with. Front mount with efans or maybe air to water. Not looking for huge power probably around 250ish.

I've seen Hardbodies (the pickup truck version of the Pathy) in the junkyard with four-bangers. I think someone on here blew up a 4-cyl Pathy... it was spurting coolant out the exhaust? I might be remembering wrong. Also, my 95 manual shows both the VG30E V6 and the KA-series in diagrams.

It probably wouldn't be a difficult swap... the only question is why. :)

To answer the question why I would have to say power.. I had an s13 ka-turbo that put down 550ish hp and enough torque to suck your face into your skull. The ka24e is a good solid motor that I am firmiliar with and know I can piece together a turbo setup for cheap. 200-300 hp is an easily achievable number out of these motors which would be more than enough to run through some puddles with.

I would love to build a dohc and swap that in but that is a lot more custom pieces than I want to deal with. I'm looking to pick up a pf do a 2" body lift with a suspension lift and 32" mudders

There are a few that have been on here. The only problem if it came with the KA24 it will have smaller drive drain components. The axles are smaller, I'm not sure about the trans and transfer case. If you plan to put a KA in place of a VG you should just have to replace the transsmission with a different bell housing.

Member 12A is the one that blew up his KA and is planning on putting a FJ20ET replacement in it.

Iirc the ka24de and vg30 share the same bell housing but the oil pan and pick up on the dohc does not fit and needs to be swapped. Also the bell housings do not interchange??

I don't really have any problems with the v6 I just wanted to boost the motor and the ka is just easier for me.

The v6 will accept boost better. Without any internal mods, they can handle 450-500whp. VG30's are very stout overbuilt engines. Also, your HP goal will be easier on the VG as the power is spread across more cylinders.

Wrong! 12A has a Z24i motor, not a KA24E motor.

ive personally seen with my own 2 eyes only 1. It was a red 4 door wd21 to be exact because it was actually a traffic stop tow and of course I was looking it over while it was in the lot...

I've seen an '87 in the junkyard with the 4 cylinders.

Turboing a 4 cylinder that's in a car is totally different than turboing a 4 cylinder in a 4,000LB rolly polly olly SUV. You need torque down low, not up high waiting for boost to hit. Boosting the stock V6 is a WAY better option than swapping in a KA. They made the Z31 300ZX with turbos, their engines are almost identical to ours. Same rods, bearings, block, etc the only difference is the compression ratio was lowered to 7.8:1 from 9.1:1. It'll be incredibly snappy and have a hell of a lot more torque if you turbo the NA engine due to the higher compression ration, and at 10-11PSI you can easily hit 250HP.

The 87-89 2 doors came with the Z24's, those are relatively common. A 90+ 4 door with a KA in it, I was not aware was an option.

I have never seen one, and there are more WD21's in the yards here than Honda's.

The issue with the v6 is the amount of custom pieces I would need and time to build it. I've built the ka before and know where to look for parts. As far as low end torque with a smaller back side say 48 or 64 t3 50 trim or so you would see 10lbs easy by 3500 rpm's roughly around the 200-250 hp range iirc. Also this build is not going to be used for much climbing. I plan on mudding and just off roading with the pf.

The factory V6 has 180tq @ 2800 rpm.

As easy as it may be for you, your ka-t is gonna be super high strung hauling around your 4500 pound SUV. you're better off fabbing some manifolds to turbo the factory engine, the VG loves boost.
