Precise1
Yes, they are smog legal and my truck recently passed Ca smog with a complete aftermarket/custom exhaust. I don't believe there is any others that are legal in Ca. B

MY1PATH
B, did they check the location of your cat to be sure the Front face of it is wihtin 3" of its original location? Appearantly thats a CARB law... I just wonder if they enforce it at all?
Precise1
The guy did not comment, but yes, mine is within 3" of the orininal location and yes, that is the CARB law. Actually, I doubt he checked, what is he to measure to and where does he get that information from? B
MY1PATH
Cool, My cat may find its way closer to the engine and I Just wanted to know incase I ever move back to cali.
The_Magicians_Eye
Cats perform better when they're closer to the engine. If someone ever complains about that you need to fight it. I mean really what's the complaint if it's doing a better job at cleaning the air?
MY1PATH
that was my logic as well They also restrict less if the exhaust going in is Hotter
Tungsten
i found it impossible to bring the cat any closer than the original location on top of the last frame crossmember i think the truck was designed without the catalytic converter in mind so there isn't much room for one if i lived in a state that did not require inspections, i would just leave a test pipe in that location
