adamzan
The three wires are Highbeam, low beam, and ground. Negative is ground.

Tungsten
you have a problem with the switch it's so common on many cars prior to 2000 because they did not use relays for the lights and then the switches melt
Chicano2005
you're saying the switch on the steering column is defective?
Towncivilian
I can get you a junkyard light stalk (without auto light control) for $5 + shipping if you want.

The DRL is the high beam at half power. It uses the high beam wire.
Towncivilian
According to EL-29 of the FSM, your headlight power is routed through the stalk switch on the steering column (unless I'm reading the schematic incorrectly). A faulty switch could be causing your lighting issues and may have caused your OEM headlight socket to melt, too. You're saying the high beam indicator is lit even if the low beams are on? Chicano2005
You're saying the high beam indicator is lit even if the low beams are on? yes. but only when i wire it a certain way. example: right now the HB indicator light is lit(when headlight are on) but the HB on driver side does not work (when i push for HB). so if i wire it so that the HB can work, the indicator light goes off. but then i will be stuck with HB all the time(on driver side only). i do have DRL i know how they work. DRL is fine the only problem is the HB.
nunya
Flip bulbs from side to side to eliminate it being a bulb issue, but I lean towards a switch issue personally.
Chicano2005
ok...so this maybe of some help: the other light bulb also has some issues. it has like a short because sometimes it works and sometimes does not. i have to open the hood and move the light bulb connection then it works again. devonianwalk
Hmmm ... did you remove the rubber cup from the back of the plastic headlight assembly before replacing your old bulb? If not, that would create enough of a gap to hender the harness connection with the lamps spade connectors. Not to mention that would be a nightmare to try to replace the rubber harness boot cover. Chicano2005
no i did not remove the rubber cap. and i never eplaced the bulb. i just replaced the connector because it melted.
