Tosh
Are there any chips that will actually have a noticeable mpg and horsepower gain? I was looking on eBay for parts and I saw tons of different ones. If I was to get one I would be more worried about mpg than horsepower. Thanks as always
Precise1
The ECUs aren't easily chipped. IIRC a programmable chip has to be soldered in?? Check out Jim Wolf, they do it. B
thehuntersam
4x4parts has some too.. I haven't met anyone yet that upgraded the ecu, a buddy of mine has some sort of v-force chip on his 97 pathy but that's as close to I know of.
Kingman
4x4parts.com sells the JWT ECUs. But realize that you'd be dropping almost $600 for it... and for the marginal performance gain it's a waste. The factory chip needs to be removed and then soldered back in, yes.
KovemaN
If you're good with computers and a soldering iron you can chip your own. Programmers and blank chips are cheap on ebay. You will need to desolder and remove the old chip then solder in a ZIF or DIP socket. I would recommend the ZIF since you will likely be experimenting a bit. The only other option is to drop big coin on the JWT.
