  1. My 1993 se 4x4 pathfinder bit the dust about a year ago. The timing belt snapped aand I tried to start it before I realized what had happened. I'm now in a tight spot and need to get what I can out of it. What would be the best thing as far as money goes to do with it? Scrap, part out? I just don't have a lot of time working full time and need money for school in the fall. Thanks

Check engine light has been on for years but htats for the o2 sensor i believe. And all the belts are intact as that is what i first thought it was too
  5. I have a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder, which has ran good to an extent until today. It has a leak in the radiator but have kept water in it and wasn't hot while this was happening. I was driving down the road going about 50 and it clean cut off. Didn't act like it was running out of gas or hesitate at all, it just clean cut off which makes me think it's elctrical. When I tried to start it back up it turned over but very quickly and sounds like its not engaging if that makes sense. I had jump started a tractor a few hours before but started up twice fine after that. Anyone have any idea? Thanks!
  6. Well I have 1 busted cv joint, and I don't know if that has something to do with this, but my pathfinder will randomly lock its hubs. Usually it happens on washboard roads of when i flex out a little bit, but sometimes it will lock in when turning while goin down the road. Anybody have any idea on what it could be? Thanks
  7. Are there any chips that will actually have a noticeable mpg and horsepower gain? I was looking on eBay for parts and I saw tons of different ones. If I was to get one I would be more worried about mpg than horsepower. Thanks as always
  8. Thanks for the info. I've got a couple of questions when it comes to pricing. Is 50 dollars good for a used radiator? And what should I be looking for price wise with jy fender, hood, and grill?
  9. After long trips on the highway at high rpm, for the next couple of days, the pathfinder will bog down randomly after I stop and try to go again. After a couple of days it won't happen anymore until I put it back on the highway. Anyone know what could be causing this?
  10. Well I need some opinions. I'm going to be getting a new bumper with some type of bull guard on it. I am on a low budget but will appreciate any suggestions. Also, are there any upgrades when it comes to tranny cooler?
  11. Thank you for merging the threads. How much would a bumper with a bull guard cost?
  12. Has anyone put another grill on a 93 to replace the plastic one? I hit a deer last night and totally shattered the grill, and I wanted to replace the grill with a metal one to make it a little more sturdy. How much do yall think it would cost for a welding shop to make one up? Thanks

    Hood Paint

Well after actually cleaning the pathfinder for the first time in forever, I noticed there were some more faded spots then I thought. I guess now ill either have to try to patch those spots or I might just get it done by a shop. I heard if you do all the prep work and bring it to maaco its actually alright.

    Hood Paint

Well I'm sure it's a pretty common problem but the paint has faded to almost bare metal on my hood. The rest of the paint on the pathfinder would be fine with a good buff but the hood is killing it for me. I want to paint the hood (and only the hood, don't have time for the whole body) but will the "stock color" (forest green) match the rest of the body if you count in 17 years of paint fade? If you've painted your hood, post up and give me your opinions. If it definitely won't match, I've thought of painting the hood a different color and trying to tie it in with the rest of the body somehow. Whatever I end up doing I will be doing it myself. I have a very nice paint sprayer so that's not a problem. I just don't have the money to have a shop do it. Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the heads up
  17. Thanks Redpath! I have been looking locally but there's only about 2 auto stores within 30 miles of me and they have to order em and said it would be around 100 dollars. But thanks for the rockauto advice I had forgot all about that. And I have the tools to do the timing belt...just not the know how and I don't have a shelter to do it under...
  18. So about a year ago I said I would be able to change my cv axle when i get a job and now i have the money... So I'm bout to get one and online the cheapest i found was JC whitney...Does anyone run these? I don't know whether to trust them or not.. And also what does gettin a timing belt changed usually run?
  19. Mine ran alot smoother after i did that..just be careful the wires are thin Also there's a right up on cleaning the trottle body and butterfly valve you could do that too..It'll help prevent a sticky gas pedal
  20. haha you're right i was just keepin it simple
  21. As long as you don't over tighten it it's not too bad. I learned that the hard way, had to get a tool to attach to the end of my socket to get the damn thing off the second time i ever changed it
  22. I run 10w30 all year round, would probally be alright considerin your temperature doesn't get too cold down there If you are gonna wheel in sand watch your cv boots over time they will eventually tear and sand will demolish your cv joints If the spedometer really bothers you then you can get it recalibrated to the correct tire size by a mechanic also bout the driveshaft.. i don't think your front driveshaft would like that very much... you said this was your first 4x4 so keep in mind that while in 4 hi OR 4 low do NOT drive on dry pavement it will wear on your system fast...if need be 4 hi will be sufficient for most wheeling but 4 low can be used in conditions where low gearing i especially needed Hope this helps
