QX4 DRL/high beam bulb

My assumption is they are of the xenon/HID type but I'm having trouble trying to figure out what kind of bulb is used. I want to switch to a higher kelvin (K) to match the lowbeam which is probably somewhere between 6000-8000K, and have something more bluish-white than the OEM yellow colour (4300K?).

I'm not sure what bulb they would be, because here in the US those projectors are high-beams not DRLs. They're both still halogen though, not xenon/HID.

IIRC the stock low-beam xenons are about 5100k.

I tried 8k in my qx4 and it looked blue and "cheap" to me

I recommend silverstars for halogen too. I had them in my last car which didn't have xenons, and they were so much better than regular halogen. Still don't hold a candle (pun ) to xenons though.

So you were able to switch the bulb for the DRL/high-beam? But the DR2 bulb is for the low-beam/halogen?

 

TooQForYou: agreed, xenon is the only way to go.

 

But the high-beams aren't xenon projectors, just regular halogen, too?

But it's still your high-beam bulb, right?

The low-beams are D2R xenons. The high-beams (projectors) are 9005 halogens.

It's exactly the same, except the high-beams have the DRL module spliced in to the circuitry.

I ended up going with Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs... Now if only Nissan had made getting at the bulb easier.

F.Y.I the 2001-2003 infiniti qx4 stock xenon low beams are a 4300k color temp. I wanted to see if you guys actually new what type of bulb type are the stock fog lights, and what type of hid replacement kit would work with them? I am going with the ddm 35watt system but need bulb-type info. Thanks and sorry to thread-jack:)

No worries, your question applies to the bulbs which is why I started this thread in the first place.

 

The low-beam bulbs are D2R and is a 35watt system, IIRC. I'm sure DDM would have the right kit for what you need.
