94 PF replacing rear axle seal

Was under my 94 PF today and noticed the rear axle is wet so I think the seal at the front of the axle is leaking. What is involved to replace it? Mark Driveshaft and flange and remove, remove flange nut than flange, pry out old seal and install new one, is that all that is involved? Thanks

Yes, the H233B looks like it has shims to adjust the pinion bearing preload so just tighten it back up. If you have the smaller axle, H190A i think is the number, it uses a collapsible spacer to adjust preload and you must not tighten it more than it was before or you will overload the pinion bearings. I always mark the position of the nut, and count the number of threads passed the nut. Put it back the same amount of turns and line up the mark. If you have a V6 you should have the H233B.

I have the same seal that appears to be leaking. Also a good time to change out my faulty abs sensor.

you'll want an impact gun to remove that flange nut.

I used a 5ft breaker pinned to the ground and used the engine to remove the one on the t-case and the torqe it took to free the nut lifted the driver side of the vehicle.

I looked on Nissan FAST program last night and do not see the seal shown on the outside of the rear end, it shows one which looks like it is inside, is the seal outside behind the flange or not? Anyone have the part number handy??

 

What size is the flange nut?

I wanna say it was like 29mm I think I used a 1 1/8" socket on it
