Temperature Gauge

Sorry for starting a new thread if this had already been covered, I did do some searching and found some stuff, but have another question.

 

I know the fuel gauge and temp gauge have a resistor pack on the backside of the cluster. Basically, what I want to know, is if one works, will the other work just fine?

 

My fuel gauge works perfect, but my coolant gauge barely climbs, even when under load on a freeway hill. I don't have an infrared temp gun to check the inlet/outlet temps on the radiator.

The stock gauge out to sit right around the 3/8 point when all is good.

Then I guess things are not "all good" haha. When I do the timing set I'll have to see what kind of condition the thermostat is in.

Or go aftermarket style on your gauges...My cluster is all jacked up...Temp and tach dance wildly at will...Fuel and Speedo work just fine...(I hope) haha

Yeah, my tach... "works" I dunno how accurate it is but it will move. on really long drives it must get tired cause it just hangs on the 0.

Mine literally dances all over the place. Drives me nuts, but am not going to spend a chunk of change to get a rebuilt cluster either.

If i only had a schematic for it, then i could probably rebuild it. My spedo doesnt work either, I replaced the spedo cable, and it worked for a couple days, now nothing, i verified the nylon nipple was there, and spring, so guess ill have to look at tranny
