Transmission Computer?

First time posting so I hope I'm posting in the right place. I have a 1995 XE v6 auto, 4x4, w/LSD 200,000 plus miles. I bought this a few weeks ago with a known tranny. The problem is that it will not shift properly. It goes into gear fine and has good power in all gears including reverse. If I rev it to around 4000 rpm and then let it fall back to idle it will at some point kick into the next gear while the revs are falling and along I go. If I don't let the rpms fall it will not shift. I've changed the tranny filter and fluid and it didn't help. The power/economy switch doesn't light or effect anything and I have changed the switch. Any ideas of sensors to change/check or maybe the tranny computer?

There is a link pinned in the garage section or wd21 section where you can download a 94 factory service manual. This has a section devoted to the AT with a comprehensive trouble shooting section. This is where I would start.

Are you running a stock tranny cooler? If so, are you certain that it is not partially or completely blocked? They are prone to this and lack of flow may have something to do with your issues.

All I can think of right now...

/\ was my thought on this - does the lamp work on your EA-T Power/Auto Switch? If not, then you may be just too heavy on the gas and it will play with the shift points until it pops out of "power" mode. If the light is working, well, then you know for sure if it goes into "power" mode because it turns on :D
