Hello From Belfair

Hi all. I've been reading on this forum for several years but just got around to signing up. I live in Belfair Washington and have an '88 SE V6 Off Road Pathfinder. It rolls on 33-10.5 BFG KOs on lego wheels with no lift. It's got an AC steering idler brace and the stiffer 4-door torsion bars. It presently has 360,000 miles on the chassis. The bottom half of the motor has 140k and the late Z31 heads have just shy of 100k. I swapped in an '01 Xterra transmission when the second stock automatic blew up. The driver's side quarter is caved in pretty good from gravity mysteriously rotating 90 degrees. :O)

As my user name suggests I'm a Datsun 510 nut. I grew up in a road racing family that switched from racing Alfas to racing Datsuns in the mid-'70s. My dad was the parts manager at Downtown Datsun in Seattle for 18 years and I worked there as well as three other Nissan dealers while in my teens. My brother has spent his entire 30 year career behind a Nissan parts counter! At my "real job" I design race car parts and the CNC tooling to produce them. The parts we build are primarily for Super Late Model Stock Cars but we're branching out into mini sprints, sprint cars, and a little of the offroad market. I've been doing this for 18 years.

I also have a small fabrication shop on the side. It's called Experimental Engineering and my web page is www.vg30.com I primarily build parts for early Datsun 510s and Zs. Most notably I produce a bolt-in kit to swap the VG30E engine and 5 speed into the 510.

My house is ten minutes from the Tahuya ORV area. I putter around the woods with the Pathy a bit but don't really wheel it hard. I used to import and sell Mercedes Unimog trucks and still have a couple 404s if I want to do serious wheeling. Before my back got so messed up I was a hard core four wheeler and spent most weekends running trails in one of my Mogs.

Precise1: Thank you. What do you have in mind? If it's something I want there's a good possibility of me producing it. I have a proper mandrel bender for rollcage tubing and a chassis plate so nothing is out of the question as far as race car and/or off road fabrication goes. I've built many roll cages, bumpers, nerfs, full tube chassis, tube front clips, etc. over the years. I don't do much one-off anymore but you never know what may spark my interest.

Pezzy: Thanks. I just never got around to joining this forum. I've looked up tons of info here over the years and you guys have been a great help.

packie88: My headers fit VG30s and VG33s. They are custom-built specifically for the 510 swap but we've found that they fit lots of other vehicles and/or swaps as well. They are tucked in really close as the 510 swap is a tight squeeze. I have not personally seen a set installed in a Pathfinder or Hardbody. A couple of guys have bought them for their WD21s and haven't asked to return them so I guess they fit? I intend to put a set on my Pathy as it needs the whole exhaust system replaced, from the heads back! Keep in mind that they have no smog fittings and I sell them with the disclaimer: "These headers are not legal for any purpose, on any vehicle, anywhere, for any reason." My truck doesn't have to pass emissions so it will lose the remainder of it's (worn out and non-functioning) smog gear when I do the exhaust.

Welcome to the forums. Like many members here (myself included) you lurked about for a while before finally joining

Good to see another local guy on here :aok: And with the skills you listed, I would bet there are more than a few members in the Pathy community that would be interested in help with projects :aok:
