Oe Xterra Rims

They'll fit. Backspacing, stock, is damn near the same as well. If they're 15's they may be a little close to the calipers, but if they're 16" or larger, they'll fit fine.

This is what Lax said about the SC X wheels:

Year: 1997

Lift: 2 inch AC coils and one inch spacer

Wheel:Xterra Supercharged wheels, 17x8 unknown backspacing

Tires: BFG Rugged Trail T/A 265/65R17

Notes:Needed 1.5" wheel spacers to prevent rubbing the front skid plate and the strut while turning at full lock

This is the linked to the PINNED topic.

Thanks for the link Jose.

While this seems to be a contradictory info to the previous replies, Lax's truck is not an 01-04 so can I be sure this would directly apply here?

Does anyone know for sure if 2002 16" Xterra rims will fit a 2002 pathfinder without rubbing or a spacer? I understand the early R50s are different in brake calipers, I don't know how else they are different wrt to rim dimensions/mounting....

Its all the same. Only thing different are the fender flares/mud flaps (and calipers as you mentioned). Are you looking at the 4 spoke X wheels? If so, the only real way to tell would be to put it on (I haven't heard of anyone who has put the 4 spokes on their R50). But if the SC X wheels fit, so should the regulars. And since they are 16", they should clear the brakes fine ("should" is a key word, as not all 16" rims will clear due to different inside design).

Lax now has a newer R50 pathy like ours, which he put those rims on, they look really nice.

Yes, 16" 4 spoke X wheels. You are right I need to simply try them.

Thanks for the link Pezzy..... DUH, I forgot all about that post, I even posted in it! Just_Cuz_15.gif At my age the memory is the second thing to go.

Now he is still running the spacers, I am not sure I feel comfortable with that for a daily driver (family vehicle). scratchheadyellow.gif

I think the flat spoke ones look the most rugged, also slightly harder to find.

I am running spacers ( 4 yrs) with the OE double spoke pathy wheels to get the 32's away frmo the spring perch. The spacers only draw backs are:

extends the length of the front suspension (ball joints, hub bearing, rack & pinion)

puts tires in a position to rub plastic that they would not have rubbed before (due to different geometry)

I have periodically checked the adapters, and they have NOT come loose one bit. There will be a break in time, as they are aluminum, that you will want to check them and re-torq a few times, but thats it!

May I add.... Aluminium spacers are torque sensitive.... DO not air gun tight them as you will most probably make them loose up by compressing too much the material... Use a torque wrench and follow the manufacturer of the spacers specs... Mine were 100 ft/lbs ... I check them every time also and nothing has changed.... Some even put locktite on it...

Your welcome!

1.5"

As GPG points out in another thread, you really only need 1" to get about any wheel to work, but the smallest I have seen are 1.25".

A word of advice here is to make sure you gt the right lug thread on the spacer...I did not and have the Toyota pitch (12 x 1.25) instead of the Nissan (12 x 1.5). I think that the nissan is 12x1.5 check before ordering for sure!

  • 4 weeks later...

As a follow up the Xterra rims fit perfect without spacer or other modification. In the following pic they are bolted on using the larger Xterra tires and those fit as well, although clearances were tight.

I have since put my P245 70 16 winter tires on and the fit is as stock. I measured the back spacing compared to my OE rims and they virtually identical.
