Installing NEW speakers in your 94 Pathy?

Since the fact that the speakers in our cars are size 5x7's how did you guys get new speakers installed into your pathy? Especially the speaker on each of the doors? Because if you open that up there is this guard around the speakers. How did you guys modify all of that stuff?

i just used longer screws on the door, and even though speaker didnt fit into that plastic holder thing i just screwed the speaker into it, and it fit perfectly back into the door, dynamate is a must around the inside of the plastic part that touches the speaker.

i got 6 1/2s in my doors, used longer screws and also made a wood spacer to space it from the door.

I used a dremel to grind down the inside perimeter of the white plastic thing, I think it's some sort of moisture guard. Then I fit 6 1/2's in there. It was pretty simple.

it really sucks when you get to the rear speakers(roof mounted versions)

cuz if you try to use 5x7s you cant get the speaker covers back on then your new speakers are prone to getting punched out (anyone know a way to make 5x7s fit flush to get the covers back on, send them this way)!

 

and for the fronts i just cut out the back of the basket thing and i used insalation(?) tape to seal up the small gap between the basket and the back of the cone. I used the tape for the rear too for the same reason. -alcohol-

BTW im running 5x7 infinitys front and rear.
