drip drip leaking coolant

Hey, I suspect I have a leaking water pump as a small amount of coolant is dripping in between the main crankshaft pully. can anybody concur?

I find no other source of leak from the radiator, or related hoses.

 

Is there an easy way to just replaced the water pump, because from what I've read is that it is basically like changing the timing belt which is a big job.

You definitely should do the timing belt job at the same time. When you remove the water pump, you'll get coolant all over the timing belt. Not to mention, the coolant that's leaking is currently hitting the timing belt. The coolant will eat the belt, so you'll want a new one on there, with a new water pump.

I had a drip on my old '87 from the same spot, ended up being the coolant bypass hose was tearing where the wire hose clamps eat into it. I could trace the path down the thermostat housing, past the water pump, and down and out of the very bottom of the crankshaft pulley.
