Sil80sydways
So my main full gauge has worked oddly since I bought the truck! When the top fuel gauge that measures the tank from 1/4 to empty says its empty which it is...the main fuel gauge says 1/2 tank..and when i fill the truck the needle goes as far as it will go past the full! and doesn't move until the actual fuel tank is half full! any ideas why this is happening and how I would go about fixing this! edicer2
my guess is someone took the cluster apart and messed up the position where the needle is suppose to be. thats just me though im guessing that just what it sounds like
Simon
Most likely it's the sending unit. The float may be installed too low, which would translate into a reading that's too high.
88pathoffroad
Could also be the wiring for the sending unit. It tends to corrode and weaken at the tank, which could increase resistance and make the gauge read wrong.
