electric question 95 Pathfinder

I have a 95 Pathfinder we use for a 3rd vehicle. Recently when I let it sit 4-5 days without running it, the battery neds to be jumped. Any suggestions? I replaced the battery but still have theproblem with the new one.

 

I have a factory stereo that has a cd stuck in it that seems to try and get out all the time. Could this be draining the electric? As soon as I connect the jumper cables it turns right over.

 

Any suggesitons are appreciated.

I dunno, but you could test this by removing the fuse for the stereo next time you park it and see if changes anything. You also should check and clean your battery connections and terminals just to rule that out.

Place an Ammeter between your Ground (negative) cable and the battery with the key off. This will give you a good Idea how much current draw there is. then you can Start Pulling Fuses and see where the Draw is from. when it Dropps, you found it. But its Probbaly from something like a done light, marker light inside the cab or something along those lines.

Check and see if the glove box light is turning off when you shut the glove box door. I hear that's a common problem as well.

I had the same problem for a while, I found that my stereo was causing the problem, but mine was aftermarket kenwood. Found the problem by pulling the fuse like the earlier posts suggest. I have since replaced the stereo and no problems since then... Good luck..

you could also install one of those battery cutoff switches and kill all power when it's gonna sit for awhile.

I am trying to replace the stereo as well. I think it may be the problem. There was a cd stuck in it that keeps trying to get out. i left the dome lights off purposely because I thought that was the original culprit.

 

Unfortunatley when I pulled the stereo and tried to replace the new one wiht the wiring harness, etc. I now do not get any power to the stereo.

 

Any suggestions? I'm assuming the fuses you are all talking about are the ones in the fuse box under the hood.

The stereo fuse should be in the box under the steering wheel in the cab. Suggestions for power would be to check the fuse and all connections at the harness obviously. Also, there may be an inline fuse for the aftermarket stereo. Suggestions for the old CD eating stereo would be a hammer.

I'm probably going to use a sledge hammer on the cd eating stereo AFTER I get the cd out of it.
