US Military (Army/Air Force) "MANUAL FOR THE WHEELED VEHICLE DRIVER"

Vehicle Recovery section is Chapter 22 (page 143 of the PDF)

CHAPTER 22

VEHICLE RECOVERY

This chapter describes a few of the more common

field vehicle recovery procedures – operations

you can perform with limited resources. In any of

these operations, remember to use brainpower to

make up for a lack of available horsepower. Take

your time in figuring your rigging and include a

reasonable factor for safety. Sloppy planning

results in wasted time and may further damage

your vehicle and equipment as well as injure yourself

and others. Recovery failures are often the

direct result of haste.

*There was a really good video I watched on youtube a while back that showed and explained the setup of multiple snatch blocks on a single pull (iirc it ended up being a 7 line pull!) but I can't seem to find it right now, when I do I'll add it to the list :aok:

Feel free to add more useful info/links to this

i learned a whole bunch of recovery tactics when i was a tow truck driver. I also learned how to break into just about any kind of car. If any of you get a chance to be a tow truck operator, do it!!! Its fun (and dangerous)!!!

It's only fun for so long, it's just become a job anymore. Of course thats what I grew up with and around. It's not monotinous for sure depending on the contracts you have(reposessions are not as exciting as tv makes them, most are volentary). As for breaking into almost anything, you only need 1 tool if you know how to use it, the Big Easy, gets into everything I've needed it to-plus it's pink,so it's cool looking.
