audiwhore Posted December 29, 2008 Share Posted December 29, 2008 Did the timing belt this weekend and decided to replace the t-stat with a Federated 170 degree unit. The T-stat came with a round black rubber gasket that is obviously not designed for the t-stat housing. I tried to install it anyway to see if it will hold a seal but no such luck. I'm getting ready to visit the dealer to for a OE t-stat and gasket but I want to know if anyone on this forum uses a different method to seal it. Liquid gasket maker? OE gasket? silver97ex Posted December 31, 2008 Share Posted December 31, 2008 I have to re-seal mine too. I replace the t-stat a few weeks ago and now it leaks. The sealant I used was really old. I don't know if it was that or if I didn't use enough. I used a very small amount. I am going to grab a new tube of stuff and go at it again.
