blower motor

I'm having an issue with my fan turned up to 4, it makes alot of noise and sounds bad. In low and med, the fan sounds fine, no noise. So it sounds like there's stuff in my blower motor fan. Has anyone cleaned this and how do I get to it? Do I remove the glove box to get to it. that's where the sound is coming from. thanks-julie

it sure was a pretty big hassle on my '94 to get to the darn thing.. i still have noise on the very highest setting but at least it's not plugged solid full of mouse house.

I had the same problem in my 95 but it was in all fan speeds. I did have to pull out the glovebox to get at the blower motor. Then it is just held on by 3 screws. Mine was packed with crap, pulled it all out and quite as new.

HAD THAT HAPPEN WITH MY 87...IT TOOK ME LIKE 15 MINS TO DO IT...AND I HADNT EVEN FOUND THE FORUMS YET

I'll point out that the dashes of the 94-95 are different than the previous, so it is quite possible the jgt will have little issue accessing the motor in her 92...

it wasnt that bad in the 95 either...just have a stubby phillips head to get that back screw out and drop the whole fan motor out...it was tighter than the 87 but not that much worse

update: did the heat resistor cleaning thing, added pix to that link, thanks.

 

So after I assembled everything, I realized that I wasn't having burnt smell issues. Duh, should have cleaned the intake unit for junk and pulled out the blower motor. So it's still making the noise, I'll do it this weekend! Either way it's good to know it's clean and I won't be starting a fire should I EVER have to use the heater here in hawaii

yep was a piece of plastic in the blower motor. No mo' noisy rattle at 3 and 4.
