Darrey
Hello all. I have a 95 Pathy with 180K. I've had it for a while but I'm fed up with the lack of power. I know this has been covered many times but here's my exception. I want to mod it for power gains but try to keep the powertrain as quiet as it is stock. It's now my daily driver and a whole rumbly, moaning headers and exhaust would just get on my nerves. Everythings healthy on my truck except for a manifold leak. What sort of mods could you guys recommend? For example, would a high flow cat make much more noise than stock? Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance I wouldn't think the cat would make a difference, but since I have a new magnaflow cat sitting in the garage waiting to be installed once it rains, ill get back to you on that. But it was a B!TCH to remove! MSD ignition would be where I would start if you're worried about how the truck sounds. Then there's an electric can swap you can to to rid the engine of turning the fan
Simon
Fix the manifold leak. That should help with power, at least in the low end. Other than that, there are some high flow catalytic converters and mufflers that don't add much to the sound. They remain close to stock in terms of noise, especially when used with stock sized pipes. A good exhaust shop should be able to help out with what you're looking for. Other than that, a cold air intake (if you don't wheel it) or a K&N drop in panel filter will help also.
Nismojunky
is there anything else i need a lil more power only problem i ahve with this thing is it needs high rpms to get to highway speeds Other than that, a cold air intake (if you don't wheel it) or a K&N drop in panel filter will help also. lol my buddie told me to get a cold air i said i couldnt he asked y... i opened my hood and he seen all the mud and dirt and said o... lol
MY1PATH
low sound, not really louder but will sound differant if... headders alone actually won't make it that loud and keeping to 2" pipe(or stock 1 7/8) will also keep the noise down. a high flow cat; not so loud if you keep stock pipe. leave the muffler alone and all should be fine. No sound; -removing manifold coolant lines, will keep the manifold(and air going in) cooler and z31parts sells manifold spacers to enhance this effect. -a K&N filter may help -switching to an Electric fan frees up some power -MSD or Jacobs Ignition system -Keeping everyting in fresh tune; cap, rotor, wires and plugs can rob you power when too old or worn. -installing the euro spec cams or some other mild upgraded cam will make the most noticable differance but if cost is and issue stick to the other mods
