Hows it going folks? I hail from the concrete jungle called New York. Dont worry, the roads are bad enough that I should turn my '88 into a crawler. God damn potholes and sh--ty drivers. Im fortunate enough to find this site after seeing the dead-like nissanforums.org. Seeing this place run by 88pathyoffroad and a few other Pathy veterans peaked my interest. I figure I might as well be part of a Pathinder-only forum since I dont have 3 maximas, a 300ZX twin-turbo, and a GT-R coming in the mail. (Even if I had said cars, Id be pissed off if they were automatics...blech).

Had my '88 since Jan '08 when my old man handed it over to me. Became a car nut since, tuning it up, messing with it, disassembling things I shouldnt be near (no fear to tinker). Me, Im more regarded as a techie and mechanically-inclined person, although a big computer geek/PC gamer.

You folks are gonna hate me for a bit because Ill be asking a crapload of questions. Oh dont worry, I read the service manual like a porno. :jig:

Sounds like me when I first joined N4w. I think they kinda got burnt out on me over there but the crowd here is much more welcoming. I also got my pathy from my dad in (but in 06) he had bought it new in 89 with the intent of me driving it one day. Go crazy man! its ok, ask questions, share ideas and give opinions(thats what most the site is, opinions).

Oh and post pics we like pics!

I forgot to add that to my first post. Sadly, I dont have a digital camera. Ill have to coax one of my friends when they get back from their vacation. For now: Black '88 2door. Has no fenders, but one time didnt have bumpers, a headlight, grille, and (cough)....fenders(cough cough).

Theres some body damage on the left hand side of the car from back in march when this moron ate a read and T-boned me. His 2000 benz' front was crushed in and looked like a WV Beetle. As for me? My rear diff was pushed 3 inches to the right, and it still ran flawlessly. Now its fixed but theres some body damage that i need to pull outward. I had my quarter panel window blown out, but my vent and windshield were smashed by my blind rage shortly after the crash. (smacks forehead). All damage is fixed now but still it looks like crap, need a wash and wax.

Welcome to NPORA Bud!! Look at things this way, you get the idea/process from the manual, you learn it by tinkering... ;)

Oh you are so right about that. At first I was scared sheetless because I wasnt used to using so much torque. Learned real quick how to deal with jacks/stands, lifts, etc. You know whats good about cars? When youre a big SOB, you wont have to worry about overtightening much, I do that crap all the time in electronics, even with two fingers.

yeh 1st gen pathys can take a hit check out my wreck;

Blazer vs Pathy

the blazer left on a flatbed and I still drove to work in my pathy

And peopel wonder why I so very stubbornly refused to junk the car after the accident. Oh I dunno, DURABLE?!

Welcome to NPORA!!

I bought my '87 2 dr from a wrecker. all it needed was a rad, all sheet metal in front of the windshield and the rad support got transplanted. Ran fine after that...until i blew a head gasket....but it's mostly good now. Not bad for 585000 kilometers
