Mobbs
Does anyone have any recommendations on tow hitches for a 1997 Pathfinder?

Wetnwild
Check out the design of the different manufacturers, some of them have hitches that sit lower than others. I prefer to have mine sit up close to the stock bumper.
Mobbs
Yeah that is exactly what i am looking for. I want it to sit pretty clean. My back bumper is a little messed up so i don't expect it to be flush.
Mobbs
Are the rear tie down hooks easy to remove? It says i will have to remove them when installing my hidden hitch. Are these those two big metal hooks at the rear right and left side? If so they seem solid, any suggestions on how to remove them? Never Mind found out it was just 3 bolts on each side. BowTied
Yeah, on my 02 the tow hitches were an easy three nolt removal... You may need to clean up the threads of the nut that did not have bolt in it originally (I did). I didn't have the correct size tap, so I cut some slots in one fo the old tow plate bolts with a die grinder and then deburred it on the wire wheel. Made a great make-shift thread cleaning tool. Just spray some lube in the nut first. IIRC, Hidden Hitch, Draw-Tite and Reese are all the same company now, so be careful when comparison shopping. If anything like my 02, you need a harness module as the brake and turn signal circuits are separate. The harness kit makes the wiring dead easy though. 01LE
Just to throw another one into the mix there's also Curt Hitches. Fleetfarm sells them for around $140-$150 and they have two different styles.
