Towing

A buddy of mine is giving me his 93 Pathy for free (not road-worthy but great for parts)!!! All I have to do it go about 130kms north and trailer/tow it back. I've searched the forums and didn't find much info on towing.

What is the best method? Should I just use a trailer and put the whole rig on top? Is it possible to tow it with the front or back wheels rolling on the ground without damaging drive shaft, etc?

Thanks for the help in advance.

automatic or manual? if manual put trans in neutral... duh? and tow, since 130km is not so far no damage will be done. If automatic, i would recommend flat bed trailer or unbolting the driveshaft from the diff and wire it up to the frame or something.

trailer the whole thing. you will lack lubrication in the T-case, tranny if you tow it.

Now you could pull the drive shaft and flat tow it, but with the setup our sigs have, when you do that you will loose oil out of the t-case. But a 2 liter bottle, rag and duct tape will fix that..

well if the tranny is busted I would drain the tranny and pull the rear driveshaft and drag it on the rear tires if you are renting the trailer...if the tranny is good then you could do the same thing or just disconnect the driveshaft and tie it up (this keeps the tranny fluid in the tranny)

Yep, I'd say put the front end on dollys, lock the steering, t-case in neutral, tranny in neutral, remove the rear driveshaft and tie it up like uncc said. Also check your rear diff fluid and top it up if needed. All should be well then. Not that the t-case and tranny NEED to be in neutral... but it would make you feel better I bet.
