Joncedric
Hello All. This site has been recommended to me by my friend Ed, not sure of his user name on here. I am a 40 something, ex-military (24 years), self-employed car nut, fully supported by wifey, 4 kids and a mongrel dog. During my service, I worked for so many idiots and I swore it would never happen again once I retired, so I set up RedZed Plus, a small business that can and will do almost anything car-related. I try not to specialise as the variety of my projects is what makes it interesting. I have restored the bodywork of an Alfa 75, followed it with a full respray on a Nissan 100NX and followed that with the preparation of a Suzuki SJ410 for proper off-roading. The same truck later got a Peugeot diesel engine. Current customer's vehicles include a 1958 Riley 1.5 V8 conversion, Hillman Californian widebody conversion and completing an abandoned BMW Trike project. As I said, all very different. Over the years, I have built up a large collection of Datsun cars, all of them are now very rare here in the UK. My favourite is a 710 sedan from 1974 though my 510s come in very close behind. A few years ago, I bought my first Y60 Patrol. After buying, and soon after, reselling several Y60s, I (meaning my wife and I) settled on a lovely, fully loaded grey example with 4.2 petrol and autobox. Sadly, towing another 2 tonne truck on a trailer at speeds exceeding the legal limit for about 3 hours, I cooked the auto. Now it only does 50 mph at about 6ooo rpm and 4 mpg. I had recently acquired a crashed and rotten D21 crewcab pick-up. I have replaced the sills and the front right hand corner. The bed and canopy has been donated by another crashed truck and its now on the road, doing my towing at legal speeds! Its a great truck. The whole family thinks so. It does have it's issues but nothing I can't deal with and I'm hoping for a little help parts wise from you lucky people in the US who got these trucks with a VG30. I've had some experience shipping cars and parts abroad and I'm very happy to try and source anything you guys might want from the UK market. There are now 5 or 6 Datsuns running around Florida and New York that came from the UK. Cheers Jon
