Shaky Steering

On the way home from wheeling this weekend my steering wheel was shaking pretty badly, it has done this once before because mud was caked up on the rims and threw it off balance, is my theory. When I got home I cleaned them off and sprayed the whole front suspension off and it still does it, but not nearly as bad. I did a quick check but couldn't tell if anything was broken, but I'm not exactly sure what I should be looking for. Any ideas?

Usually it's tires that cause that. Perhaps you lost a wheel weight somewhere?

if you have those "beauty" rings they get stuff caked behind them a lot...do you have mudders if so you may have ripped a lug off or anything listed above...
