Fuel Injector

Last week I my mechanic had to replace my knock sensor and the cannister and he said on of my fuel injectors were bad so he replaces that also since he did it I`m having trouble staarting it and now there`s a strange odor kinda like an exaust smell anybody got any clues.....................Thanx John

Inside the cab or outside? Could be that the canister didn't get hooked up right, you have an exhaust leak, or perhaps the EGR line is off. Could be a few different things. How did he find out one injector was bad? Or did he just kinda pop that one in on ya and expect you to pay for it?

The odor is outside the cab,he said he noticed that one of the injectors were broke while doin the knock sensor .I have never had an issue with starting it always started right up till now also the RPMs are betwwen 0$1 and it feels like it wants to stall when I`m at a traffic light.....thanx for the help ....John

Noticed while changing the Knock Sensor....

 

1. Remove upper Plenum chamber and associated connections.

 

Reach around and see if you can get at the little sucker....

 

2. Remove fuel rails or Disconnect the wiring harness/connectors at the Injectors and fish the wiring out...

 

3. Remove Intake Manifold....

 

4. Theres that little bugger.....

 

My bet is he broke the injector... it is pretty easy to do...

 

Run your ECU Codes,OOPPS!!! R50..... Drive down to AutoZone and have them Check the Codes, it will most likely point you in the directions you need to go.

 

Canister Connections are pretty easy, but they can be crossed and cause issues... Even a small Vaccume Leak will cause headaches... If the connectors on the injectors were crossed, connectors to your Dizzy....

yeah i had a small vacuum leak like what casey said it was a mojar headache had trouble starting and erratic idle and all i had to do to fix the promlem was cap off the vacuum line for the cruise control
