By now I hope everyone has heard about the DEIS going on in every forest in the Nation. Eldorado national Forest is in the forefront of putting this devastating plan into effect. So we need to stop this NOW!!!

If not, click here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=596279

We have set up a simple way for everyone to do their part, simply click on this link www.preserveourtrails.com and enter your info, affiliations and any comments you want to add to the letter. The program will then randomly select 15-50 trails and send the email off to the Eldorado National Forest.

As of right now you can only do this once per person. But by Friday night or Saturday you will be able to do it over and over again!!!

I would like to thank Ben & Annie Ratto for being major contributors to getting this going along with a BIG THANK YOU to Tom & Ryan with www.mediaprodesigns.com for all of their help, without them this site would not exist!

You can also help by getting this link on every forum that you know of that hikes, bikes, MX, fishes, camps, or 4wd. This is SUPER important to the existence of our sport!

Thanks!

Ryan

EDIT: Be sure to confirm the email that is sent to you, if you dont, your letter will NOT be sent!

A friend brought this to my attention from pirate.com

Please help by emailing and reposting this info.

forefront? yeah, i wish.. FS has already screwed us here in the middle. They completely disregard their own mission statement which says that all forest are multiple use areas.. for some reason multiple to FS means some... i wrote a big ass letter to them a while back and their response was: sorry, your comment are irrelevant.. my letter was full of direct quotes from all kinds of different FS publications. hmmmm.. if you want, you can find my letter in my folder in the ftp site that madmudders so graciously let us use.

Repost nearly!

Find out why they are closing. I think you'll find there are valid reasons for the closures if the reasons for them are anything like they are here.

Ultimately, what it comes down to is, that a few f*ckwits spoil it for everyone else and it is hard to argue the damage that these few thoughtless idiots do.

I may be way off base here, but my understanding is that after 9/11 the gov. redirected lots of monies that normally went to the forest service/national parks. Since that happened they have been understaffed and their take on the problem seems to be that less access will ultimately mean less people visiting. Less visitors/roads/trails to maintain means less responsibilities for the few rangers and workers that are left to deal with everything. Welcome to the bush's(dubya) trickle down effects. We seem to lose more every day.

I know what you're talking about when you say a few f*ckwits spoil it for everyone. I've seem several private ponds and lakes closed off because @sshats use it as their personal trash can.

the money is just an excuse man.. the mentality of FS folks is that less people the better anyway and that's not their mission at all. not according to their own mission statement.. it never was. enviro lobby is extremely well funded and organised.. plus there are also powerfull individuals that tend to do things that are kind of out of the spot light. big money hurts us all just as much as anything.

its such a dumb situation

we have experienced it here massively in oz. they close fire trails, then when there are actually fires the tracks are so over-grown they are impassable and the firey's cant actually use them to fight fires like they are supposed to. more life, stock & property are lost because some stupid, know it all politician think they are doing the right thing by closing all the trails to big bad nasty 4wds....
