Third member axles are designed with the gears and center carrier built into a removable section in the center of the axle, which unbolts from the front and can be removed after the axles are removed.

The other type of axle is a fixed-carrier design that has the gears bolted inside the axle and are only removable from the rear through an access cover.

The Pathy rear H233B is a third member axle. The front R200A is a fixed carrier axle. The C200 rear in 2WD trucks is a fixed-carrier axle also IIRC.

I have been told that I can not make a 3rd member into a front axle.

I would like to do the following if possible:

1.) Swap the H233B from a donor 1987 pathfinder into my 1987 4cyl Pathfinder

2.) Use the C200 that is in my 1987 Pathfinder to make a front solid axle.

( cut the ends off and weld on some knuckles )

3.) Use the H233B 5.13 gears from AC and the R200A 5.13 Gears also from AC (the R200A gears will be placed into the newly cut and welded front C200 axle)

Is that even possible? What about the "pumpkin" placement? does it need to be off-set to fit in the front? if so toward the driver or pass?

If this is possibe it would allow the usage of both front and rear ABR lockes!! On solid axles!! how sweet would that be???
