Exaust manifold

Well I got curious about my exaust manifolds and decided I would take off the heat sheilds. Yep, sure as taxes, the passenger side manifold has a nice crack in the middle (no stud breakage though) and the drivers side has one broken stud and a missing nut off another. So I was gonna just put the sheilds back on and pretend this never happened considering my financial situation. So until I have money to replace with some thorleys or what have you, I'm gonna keep on truckin'. Think I'll make it?

It not really gonna hurt anything as long as its not a rediculously large leak...It'll just be make an obnoxious amount of noise. If you cant afford to fix it it'll be fine until you can...you could throw some JB Weld on the crack..not the preferred method, but it does the trick.

i'm in the same boat as you. but i have the dreaded exhaust tap. front 2 exhaust studs are broken. it's black around the front of the driver's side exhaust manifold. passenger side has one missing nut all studs are fine for now. no cash for headers yet so driving as is for now.

Drove little grey with both of cyl 2's studs missing for about, ohh, 80K miles. It would tick at start up and then quiet down within a couple minutes.

It did eventually start to tick longer and louder, which is the indicator it is time to fix. If it is ticking when you get on the throttle, you have VERY hot exhaust gasses jetting out. This can get hard on neighboring wires, hoses, plastic, etc.

I also had the tick that would fade as the motor warmed, and wasn't ready to tackle it due to no place to work. Guess what, it went away. No joke! Point is, it's not critical at that stage, but you don't want to push it too long or if it gets worse. It may just stop.

Yes, go straight to thorleys for many reasons, I plan the same.
