govols74n
Has anyone removed the intake silencer/resonator? Been reading up on it and wonder if it sounds good on the pathfinders...?
Pavelow Leaks
I removed it on the mustang, it was very noticable, the pathy didn't have a airbox when I bought it, so I don't know for sure, but it will definately make a difference.
NismoSkyZ
I didn't even know that the WD's had one. My buddy's SHO had one and when we took it out it sounded 100x better. Minimal power gains though.
88pathoffroad
All that thing does is make the intake quieter. I doubt you'll get any more power from removing it.
Simon
I've heard it does help, on WD22 Xterra's. I'm planning on doing that shortly, with a stealth snorkel as well. I'll let you know how it works out.
govols74n
Dumb Question, but I didn't even know what one was until yesterday...OK....is it the lung black box in the fender well?

gxl90rx7
are you talking about removing teh air filter assy? if you remove it and put a cone filter instead, it will probably lose power because it will be sucking in hot engine bay air instead of cool fenderwell air. govols74n
No, I left the box in there, but I removed it then took out the plastic thing in the fenderwell which the sound from the intake goes into to get muffled...then I put the box back....the air still comes from the grill, but if you look at the air filter box, there is a small 1" plastic pipe connecting into the fender well. No air comes in from the fender. I havent noticed much from the removal yet, but I'm going to put a cap on the open hole on the filter box where the "silencer" was to make sure all air is forced into the intake instead of coming out of the side.....the pathy seems to have more punch but I don't know if it is just from removing the clogged cats and installing the exhaust or both...? But there is a slight growl under the hood. Edited February 24, 2007 by govols74n
