big_johnson
I've been looking around at intakes, and the K&N FIPK seems like a good choice. However, they don't make a specific application for the R50's. But the Xterra engine is almost identical, so I'm wondering it it will just fit. Check out the attachment, I don't see much of a difference compared to our 3.3's. Any thoughts? IowaPathfinder
Weapon R makes a free flow intake, a cold air intake and a Ram Air kit that one of the guys on the forum modified to use the area under the driver side turn signal. The cold air kit is expensive and it is for the Xterra model but if your looking to do the same thing with the K&N . I was looking to the Ram Air combined with the computer upgrade (http://www.4x4parts.com) and install 2 of the Aeroturbine exhaust (http://www.aero-turbine.com) with the larger pipe running back from the exhaust mans. If this doesn't get me fast enough I will look at the dry/wet nitrous system. This is the site that I found for pricing on the Weapon R stuff. http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home.asp...n%20R%20Intakes I also had a question for you. Isn't the VG33E engine that same model that was in the TwinTurbo Z'z of the same year?
88pathoffroad
No. TT 300ZX's only had the 3.0 VG30DETT engine.
big_johnson
First of all, that website you found for the weapon-r stuff is overpriced, by far. And as for the bumper mod, I know about it, and I did a similar thing, just without the full intake. And the aeroturbine exhausts have garnered a good deal of controversy about whether or not they actually work. And why would you install 2 of them? Just have the muffler shop weld the two inlet pipes into one and get the 2.5" application. The only reservations I have about the weapor-r is the foam filter part. I'm still not totally convinced that it filters as well as K&N or others of that type
97SE
If this doesn't get me fast enough I will look at the dry/wet nitrous system. Are you sure you're in the right forum?
statikuz
Found this but it might not be what you're looking for: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33659
big_johnson
Well, sort of. That is a great price, but one of the main things I want when I upgrade my intake is a straight mid pipe. that is one of the advantages of the weapon-r and K&N FIPK. Thanks for the link though, I'll have to think about it
