spare tire rack

Yes and no... it does just bolt on, but there are brackets inside the bdy panels that it bolts too. The lower ones are in every truck but the upper ones came only on the trucks that were equipped with the carrier from the factory.

There is a kit offered by 4x4parts.com that allows you to add the upper bracket, then you can bolt the carrier on.

Do not try to simply bolt it to the body (without installing the mounting bracket first) as the carrier weights to much for the sheet metal of the body to support it, even without the tire on it.

EDIT: Another option is to throw the spare up on the roof.

[Hi just wanted to let you know if you need a tire rack I have one I will sell Reasonable]

What year is it from and how much would you want for it? I have an 88 but it was rear ended at one point and the carrier is badly torqued out of shape.

There have been several tire carriers exchange hands around here. Something to keep in mind is that they are large and weigh around 60 pounds, so shipping becomes a big deal.

For example, it cost about $70 to ship one from Houston TX to NoCal.
