Pezzy
In Flanders FieldsBy: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. 88pathoffroad
I think what he meant to say was, "You Canadians and your wierd rarely-publicized holidays...".
Trainman
I think what he meant to say was, "You Canadians and your wierd rarely-publicized holidays...". His profile says he is from Toronto Of course 25% of Canadians asked in a survey last week thought Douglas MacArthur was a WWI Canadian war hero
eglaisi_91pathy
Im pretty sure most Canadians know what Nov 11 means. And have their own way of remembering, and if they choose not to, thats up to them. What are we supposed to do? Run commercials saying: "watch out! here comes Remembrance Day! Time for celebrations, dont forget to buy your 'Remembrance-tshirt' and stop by Leapin' Larry's Car Dealership cause he's having a HUGE sale!!" sorry if i offend here, but IMHO, American's might be a little too 'patriotic'. Some people wear a shirt with the American flag on it and have 2 flags flying from their car, and several more on their front lawn, then complain about their gov't all day. Seems a little ironic. Sorry to get off the topic a little, I didnt forget what this was about. I myself was not affected as some people (both grandfathers fought and lived through WW2 and are still here)

You might change that to...some Americans are a little TOO bi-polar. Some days they take their meds, some days they don't. I don't think having a strong feeling of nationalism and bitching about the givt. are remotely the same.
