El Pathfindero
Well folks, as you all know the Pathfinder has been down for weeks now, and while its down I ve ben fixing stupid little things like repainting my interior So heres my next question? what steps do i need to take to prep up my center console for painting so far i've got it down but ive never painted something that is made to stretch like the armrest on the console does Is it the same basic procedure 1.scuff with light sandpaper/scotchbright, clean with alcohol (not stolie, thats too sticky -alcohol- ) then spray away using plastic paints like Krylon's Fusion, or Rustoleum's Plasticote? the trim and stuff is alread all painted up using a textured plastic paint that makes it look like hammered metal, and all gray trim has been coated with black, an now am looking to paint armrests and console black.....
GrimGreg
Get some vinyl paint at the parts store, it works good, and remains flexible.
jj big shoe
That stuff works pretty well but expect it to eventually wear off items that you rub on like the console armrest. Mine lasted about 18 months and now needs a respray.
GrimGreg
Yeah, but it will last better than plain old paint. Best option would probably be to cover it with cloth, vinyl, or leather. That is if you are halfway decent with upolstery.

94 Pathy
Ok, so for the interior or your console...I painted all my interior trim and exterior trim with that hammered look paint. It worked out rather well. Have had many compliments. Old pic's, but will give you an idea.
