losing tach and hvac

 so i start my truck the other day and have no tach or hvac controls...check the fuse labeled "meter", put new one in, keeps blowing almost instantly. Thought maybe it could be the hvac controls, but if i turn on the ac it doesnt go instantly. So i thought maybe tach, but it pops the fuse without starting the truck. Anyone have any clues?? I dont have a haynes manual or anything, does anyone know what else is inline with these that i could check, or what relay they are on?? thanks in advance, not having tach is fine but no ac is killing me

Well, it is obvious you have a short in that circuit somewhere.... but where?

Any chance you or someone else has been working up behind the dash? There is usually a root cause to wires getting cut or pinched....

If it were an automatic I would say check the wiring harness going from the engine compartment to the transmission. I had a similar problem when the harness fell down on the exhaust and burned through a wire. It may not work with yours but it never hurts to check.

tried that today, no luck...and i checked all the underhood relays, unhooked my foglights, stereo, gauges, almost the whole dash, it is a little more delayed now but still goes through fuses, gotta rip some more interior out tomorrow after work and do more searching
