Two questions

1. There is a sensor bolted to the vertical brace in front of the A/C condenser, it kinda looks like some kind of ambient temp sensor, but I don't have an internal thermometer. It is in my way of the tranny cooler install, what is it? can I move or remove it?

 

2. Can a 2wd M/T be converted to mate to a xfer case.

It probably is your ambient air temp sensor. There should be 3 sensors up there. Put the Tranny cooler vertically to the side of that vertical brace if it doesn't fit behind it.l

 

2. Not easily. You can use it if you run a divorced t-case however, but then you'd need to get new driveshafts.

What would I need an ambient air sensor for?

So the ECU can calculate fuel/air ratios along with input from the TPS, MAF, O2 and coolant temp sensors...

It should be fine anywhere up there near where it was. Just don't stick it inside the rad fan shroud or anything silly like that.
