wow i wish my radiator support was that straight!! mines buckled right in the middle pushed back so that vertical metal strip with all the sensors was pushed back and smooshed into my AC condensor splash guard is cracked and bolts are ripped out splash guard hanging on for dear life, doesnt really fit I wonder if i could drill new holes in an aftermarket skidplate to line up with my deformed subframe?

The factory alarm is perfectly fine!! It has door sensors, hood pin, trunk pin, and electronically connected so that pressing buttons or unlocking doors will set it off. Also, the electronic key prevents anybody from simply using a copy made from VIN #. At most, I would add a backup battery so that disconnecting the vehicles battery won't kill the alarm. A fuel pump kill switch is very easy to install with about $5 worth of parts, and is a very good theft prevention even if the thieves manage to get past the QX4 ignition. Even with the best theft prevention techniques, you can't stop them from pulling your QX4 onto a flatbed, but that doesn't happen to pathfinders often. THats something to worry about if you drive a turbo rice rocket or a pimped out luxury car.....

I went to the local off road shop (Off Road Warehouse) and they quoted $170 for the hubs, $110 for install, and they had no idea which hubs fit the infiniti QX4. The guys didn't seem too enthusiastic about finding out so I just left. Its a bunch of jeep fools there anyways.

Finally rain in So Cal!!! Too bad it's done and the forecast is sun for the next 10 days. Anyways, I was out riding up some muddy mountains today, and it was too gnarly for 2wd to handle. I used 4LO for a bit, it makes a very loud whine noise (is that normal?) and I guess it worked alright, but it seemed easier to handle in 4HI. My question is, when using 4LO in an auto, should I leave it in a certain gear or is D sufficient? WHat conditions require 4LO vs. 4HI?? Do you guys have any special techniques with auto tranny?

in my 99 you can do it at a standstill or even while rolling. I have full time drive flanges, i dont know about automatic hubs.

do you have that little chain and mechanism that lifts/drops the tire from underneath? the hole for it is in the rear bumper and you need that 3 foot long tool from undrer the seat to use it.

wowza!!! The pathfinder oil pan is so small, that it is IMPERATIVE that you always have a good amount of clean oil. VG engines run HOT in our cars and they need to be taken care of. I hope you didn't do any damage.... but if you did, you could technically blame it on Firestone. Always check your @!*%. PS Just a few weeks ago, I also went to a Firestone type place to change my oil (can't beat $12). I was watching the monkey working on my truck to make sure he did everything cool.... everything looked good. I rolled out of there, checked my oil level first thing, and that stupid asshole overfilled it hardcore. The oil level was about an inch above the "High" mark on the stick. I drained it correctyly myself and i am not going back.

So I was racing a lifted ranger in the boonies yesterday... he was in front (stock QX4 trying to hang with a super lifted and extended ranger with external shocks - HA HA!!) and he was driving like a bat out of hell, I was simply driving fast when he blew by me throwing dirt in the air. So hes a bit in front of me and we are both driving 80+ on a smooth, baja like road with some slight up and down humps Next thing i know, there's a huge cloud of dirt and smoke, the ranger flipped like three times and stopped resting against a wooden fence, I had to swerve like a maniac to miss him, then next thing, I was out of control and was headed straight for a large drop off!!! I hit the brakes, wheels locked up, ABS kicked in, i was scared for my life!!! All i see is a huge drop in front of me coming up FAST. I pressed on the brakes with my life (which probably wouldnt make a difference since ABS was kicked in) and I braced my body for what I thought would be the end of my SUV and a long fall to the bottom of the valley. The QX4 stopped within one foot of falling to its death. I got out of the car, saw what happened, and started laughing my head off!!! It was unbelievable. 200 feet of brake marks going straight towards the edge, only to stop and dig in about a foot from crashing. The ranger guy was 100% OK and he was laughing too (even though his truck was destroyed) we were both happy to be alive. I offered to help try and flip his truck back to normal (the wheels looked ok) but due to the awkward position against a fence, he waited for a tow truck DRIVE SAFELY GUYS

like he said, main wiring rubber grommet. I also drilled a hole next to the metal grommet for my 6 gauge power cable.
