Welcome to the board! This is a good place to start...Keeping your pathy tuned up, be easy on the gas, and using the search function to find "gas mileage" will help a lot...

yeah, the back seats flip up - there is a tab that you pull up right where the seat part meats the back and the seat will flip forward towards the front of the truck... to be honest - Ive never looked for mine... I would say it's there, or under the floor in the back.

yeah the norm is about 16-18MPG, and if youre heavy on the gas, it will show... I know, it's hard to go the speed limit on the highway... sometimes I have to force myself to drive behind a rig just to pace myself & save some gas.

I dont blame you for feeling kicked in the ass for gas prices... we have two gas guzzlers... so we picked up a 89 VW Jetta Diesel for the commute for at least one of us. I just drove the VW for two weeks, and I have to say I SOOOO LOVE having the pathy back. My pathy rides 44234x's better than the Jetta... (Jetta needs some love though) and I love sitting higher in traffic, being able to see around all those little cars in my way. For us, I think about how stupid it is we have two SUV's but they are our life, All summer long... we pack em up and go camping and wheeling pretty much every weekend. *runs out and kisses pathy*

Yes, the pathy is rated better than the Xterra for towing... (at least the pre 05 Xterra vs the 96-04 pathy) As for the roofrack, I just have two nissan crosser bars, and Ive actually bought some Thule ones for heaver loads... Not sure about the ones that are more like the Xterra ones... I do like the look of them with the airdam - but tehyre pretty uncommon up here, I dont think they were an option in Canada.

HI there, welcome to the board. I've had my 99.5 for almost 2 years and love it. I dont know anything about having to use premium gas, but maybe someone with the newer 3.5L engine can chime in. I have the 3.3 and run fine on regular gas (If you do look @ the Xterra's you do have to run premium if you go for the supercharged)... I know some of the newer pathys with the bose stereo system with the 6 cd changer have a lot of issues with the stereo... pretty much the general concensus is to ditch it when it goes, and it will go eventually. One thing to look at on the pathys - mechanics wise is the struts, I know mine had to be swapped when I bought mine... as for other things, again, maybe others can offer advice, and try using the search function, as I know the subject has come up before... Mileage on a stock R50 is supposed to be 16MPG city/18MPG highway... and I think mine was abour right on target before I started modding it. Not sure about the amenities with the LE vs SE, I have the cheapie XE, and love it as is!! We also have an Xterra, and it's a great truck too... the pathy is a nicer ride (smoother on the road - the X is more 'truck' like), and I like to point out the few toys it has over the X just to P.O. the hubby... (heated mirrors, back glass opens... ) but I would reccommend either truck. They are great on & offroad. Lots of room for camping and groceries too I suppose hehe...

I dont have a hi-lift so it wasnt in the planning, but with a bit of work we could add that if I ever do want.

this one gives you a better idea... basically one flat piece cut to shape and welded to the end of the main bumper piece there -- on the back side of the flat piece, it it bolted to the body. Then there's one fidgety piece added to kinda finish the top/back there.

5100's, they are what came with the AC lift... I like em...

3/16" in a bunch of different sizes, although the sides are a bit thinner...

So, I have been sans pathy for a few weeks, as we've been working hard on it, getting it ready for the trails... Installed Warn Manual Hubs and a Warn M8000 winch (no pics), and built a custom rear bumper/tire carrier & rock sliders: Rear Tire Carrier: Main Bumper: Slave Labour: Swing gate on, and tire carrier started... Now back to work! Finished Product! (just gotta get that muffler bent and tucked up, before I tear it off a la rock) Sliders:

V: a suggestion for him for the wings, why not do them like the TJM front bumper, they come separate, and they bolt to the main bumper...

on that there side of the world they drive on the other side of the road... and a few things are the opposite on their trucks... we wouldnt have to worry about that. Yes, yes I do. Beats reality some days!

hmm... I was told the TJM wouldnt work... heh... nice... then again my TJM bumper wasnt supposed to work either... *rubs hands together* I'd love to see install pics if you have any...

What brand snorkel is that? Ive seen pics of someone who put the ARB from the Navarra (which is a frontier here, and they use the same one on the Xterras) on a pathy... the fit wasnt perfect on the fender, but it (supposably) did the trick. I am waiting for a certain someone with an R50 and an ARB for a Navarra to get his smit together so I can see how his install goes...

Hey there... the difference I found between my 99.5 and the 99 and older, when it comes to the bumper was how the grill and that sticks out. Mine sticks out further than the older ones, and thus, it covers more of the bumper... You might end up with a gap between the top of the bumper and your grille. As for mounting, in my case there were no issues on how they mounting points lined up. I cant recall where I read it, but I know someone else looked into this and was told it wouldnt work. Although that was what I was told too.
