Let me know. I have an AT also (95) and I know from others that the pacesetter headers won't fit. The dudes at Thorley said that the ones listed for the MT would work on the AT. Actually, they really said that they have received responses that the headers for the MT have worked on the AT. I'm guessing that they aren't ready to make that as a claim. Anyway.... let me know if it works out-of-the-box or what mods you needed to make. I'm still looking to ditch my manifolds.

95 SE. New problem started to occur. When I unlock my doors with my remote, the drivers side door lock peg does not come completely up. Though the door unlocks, it is obvious that soemthing did not work completely. I can easily pull the lock the rest of the way up. Problem is, if it's in it's half-assed position and I slam the door, it'll be enough to lock all the doors. I've read about the dreaded yellow thingie but is that only for the pre-90's pathys? Sound like the same thing?

I pulled mine but I had to remove the diff and crossmember. Couldn't get the pan completely off without doing that. If you feel lucky and are just lookign to reseal it, hike up the engine and lower the pan. You may get an inch or two gap. If you're a contortionist and you have the thing up in the air so you can move around under it, you may be able to scrape out the old gasket and lay in a new bead of high-temp RTV. I would then pour the old oil back through from the heads to the drain plyg to make sure you fluch out any bits of gasket you may have gotten inside the pan. After all is said and done, if it is sealed, you're golden. If it leaks, you're back to pulling it completely off (diff and support) and you're just out some elbow-grease and a $3 tube of RTV.

on my 95, there's a small fuel line connecting the 2 fuel rails for the injectors. It has hardened and lost it's seal over the years and, when cold, had no flexibility. I tightened the clamps on each end and the smell went away.

but did you make it to the bonus round?

I found that my drain tube was plugged with mud and allowed condensation from the AC to build in the tray and get all crappy and stinky. I didn't find it until I made a hard right turn and dumped fluid (I won't even call it water) on my passengers feet. Open up her up and clean it out. Make sure the drainage is good. Good luck

I will refrain from entering the urinary olympics in this thread. My 2 cents is simple... If someone wants to put together a less expensive alternative to a retail snorkel kit, more power to them. Let us know how it works out. If you choose a retail setup, same deal... let us know how it works. Personally, I lean towards customization of items if possible. In many products, there are 'averages' taken to make items that will work in multiple vehicles and are not specific to any. 'close enough' seems to be the favorite phrase of manufacturers (as many who put a K&N air filter on their pathy have found out, it's not a straight out-of-the-box fit). To each his own though. (I like the thought of stainless Dieselboy, that could look sharp if done right )

there have been lots of studies about fuel addatives and their performance gain. Teh addition of a small amount of acetone (or probably any of the ketone family) will give you a small percentage increase. I twill aslo introduce water to your engine as acetone is about 5% water. Not enough to hydrolock but I wouldn't want it sitting in my tabk or engine to rust. Also, the acetone will dissolve or break the bonds between hydrocarbon polymers. It'll eat your fuel lines quicker than without the acetone.

Mookie's still around.... just not as vocal as before.

I love it! I gonna go get me 10 rolls of duct tape. and an NO2 sticker. I'll be getting dang near 40mpg with those mods.

Don't need to. I'm an aerospace engineer and have had my share of design analysis over the past 15 years or so. If you want to get into a discussion about the fluid-dynamics of the thing (and in this case, they are treating the air like a fluid), I can but I'd prefer to keep it on the simple side. The claim is that it makes the air get into the engine faster. Sucking through a 4" tube isn't gonna starve your engine of air. Also, if you trace the pathways that the air flows, putting a 'vortex' in the main intake tube is quickly negated by the breakdown and redirection of the flow. There has been some (and I use that term loosley) success in using a device like this in a vertical intake into a standard carb but that only had to do with the completeness of the air/fuel mixture when it entered the combustion chamber and not the fuel to air ratio. If you changed the intake to have a couple bends in it, the benefit was lost as the air just flowed normally. Also, with an injector system where it is in the grand scheme of things on the pathy's engine, the addition of 'swirling air' will have absolutely no effect. However.... if you want to try, I would suggest snipping a tin can and making some fins. Same effect and a lot less money.

DO NOT try to straighten your frame by chaining it to a light-post and driving away fast. bad things could happen.

the MAF can certainly cause rough idle, bad running, sputtering, etc. Check that your connections are good (if it's idling rough, waggle the wire to the MAF etc). I know there was a pre-96 problem but not sure if they redesigned the connector for 96+

When I first got my pathy, I was living in New Mexico. Just outside of Las Cruces, there is a flood control dam (actually it's just dirt and rock but it's to keep the 100-year-flood from sweeping out of the Organ mountains and flushing the city) Anyway, during the rainy season, water pools in some areas behind the dam. This is all BLM land ( bureau of land management) and is open to all who wish to play. I decided that I would go play in some of the mud so I would get a good run and catch the edge of the mudholes and make an absolute mess of the truck. The more fun I had, the more daring I got and decided, just as it was getting dusk, to go for the big one. There was a puddle about 50 ft round and about 6-10 inches deep. I hit it at about 40mph and aboput half way through, discovered what happens under water that has been standing for a few weeks. Under the water was the nastiest mudhole I'd ever encountered. I plowed in and sank to my headlights. With no hope of getting out, I crawled out the window and called a buddy to come out and give me a pull. I even had to tie to the bull-bar since there was no way I was going to be able to dig down to my tow hook. Anyway, after dragging her home and letting it sit in the back yard overnight, I started the long job of cleaning. As I was hosing it off, I kept seeing these little mud-blobs hit the ground then start hopping around. It looked like the biblical plague and all I could do was laugh as my wife watched and just shook her head and rolled her eyes. I test my depth now before I play.

I'm told that I'm no longer allowed to beat the sheet out of someone for stuff like that. All it takes is one dumb punk trying to act tough in front of his friends, thinking that someone who they faked jumping out in front of would simply swerve or panic and not slam on the brakes, pull a 180, jump the curb, get out of the truck and confront the little MF. All he had to do was apologize but he felt he had to act tough. I guess he thought his friends would back him cause he started mouthing off. I got in his face (looking down since I'm 6' and he wasn't) and he decided to swing first. That's all she wrote. 3 broken fingers and a shattered jaw later (only the fingers were mine) it was over and he wasn't acting tough anymore. His buddies chose to decline my "anybody else?" invitation so I went home. Frellin' cops showed up later that night cause the little prick's parents were all in an uproar that "someone jumped him". I have to give them credit though. The dropped the charges once they found out what had really happened. Apparently they felt that it was about time that he got an attitude adjustment. darn kids nowadays with their "you can't touch me or I'll tell" attitude. Back in my days, we got the strap from dad when we screwed up. Now you can't touch a kid or the friggin leech lawyers will be all over you.

would be interesting to see if you chose to tinker.

I used to swap the antenna thingies as I walked through the parking lots. Stealing is just wrong.
-
Dude... stealing grandma's remote would be seriously un-cool.
-
bunch-o-crap with no scientific basis. The only vortex it generates is that which sucks the cash from your wallet
-
hey slick... what's that green puddle under your pathy?
-
if the stock JGC spriongs give you about a 3" lift, what's the lift if you buy the JGC-lift springs? Anyone done this?
-
that's how I did my second engine. It costs more 'cause you need to replace your head gaskets but I thought it was much easier than pulling the entire engine.
-
'cause they're easy to throw out when you break them or can't extract the things you want to

I always believed that velocity was the solution. With sufficient skid plates, you should just skip across, right?
