ok. So after much ado, the new addition is home. I must say we were both FAR from impressed when the motor was brought out. First thing was that this motor was SUPPOSED to have only 144,000 on it and the tag said 170,000! then we noticed they only took one manifold off when it should of had NONE..... gee.. maybe it's because they BROKE 1 stud and decided not to #$!&^% up the other side? pssd THEN! i leaned over and noticed the head had been WELDED...... in the corner where obviously a stud removal had been skrewd up b 4..... and where my worst stud removal was........ ok.. no biggie..... got it home.... pulled the valve covers..... not bad...... pulled the spark plugs (they were generous enuff to leave me 3 almost new looking NGK plug wires attached) and the plugs looked good too. Very dirty engine.. i am used to my pristine (almost) clean motor.... but I think she'll clean up well. I pulled the t-belt cover and the belt looks brand new. Also looks like this motor had an autotragic tranny.... does this make any difference to me with my 5 speed? the same right? Looks identical.... anyhoo.. the motor came out of a 90 pathy.... here are a few pics i took just after we got it out of the back of dave's bros truck...

i dunno why they say that either.. but if you are ordering thorleys... order them from summit instead of the actual thorley site.. save yourself $200 :contract:
-
i'll take pics of a few of the 205's we have. if you are doing hardcore wheelin, then a 205 would be best. if it's just weekend warrior sorta stuff, you could get away with a 203. i'll take pics. my email is pathy4x4@yahoo.com

the first rock you hit will modify that with no other effort required from you
-
once you change your front tires. and had an alignment, and have checked your wheel bearings, check the gear oil in the rear diff........

Glad you solved the problem. FYI.. do not EVER EVER EVER use bars leak

i like all the snorkle set ups... good job by all!! now... who wants to come make me one? i got lucky when i drowned my jeep..... cuz she sure took on a lot of water.. but she dried out n got me home... afraid to go barging into puddles with the pathy after that.... exodus...... imma come steal your pathy..... it is.... *wips tear* "beautiful"... it would look so good sitting in my driveway....really....
-
:sniff: i remember when my thorleys were all shiney like that! then i drove it.. oooooh yeah baby!

-
my beautiful clutch i installed last time i pulled the motor however looked the shining example of health.. though the rear main seal appeared to be leaking again (it was a new one installed when the clutch was put in this time a year ago)
-
it almost looked green because of all the raw fuel that got into the oil..... it was just ugly....
-

having it shipped onna truck would be cheaper.. we have a depot in stockton we could drop it at.... shipping would prolly cost you (i can't remember your location) around $75-$100. I had an 8.8 rear end shipped to me onna pallet from Nebraska for $165, and it still cost me less than buying one here in CA lemme see if i can dig up a pic of my beautiful 205 .. nah.. no pics of the tcase.. i could take some pics of what we've got today tho... i sold my 205 to dave's bro for $125.. but we have others... or maybe he'd be willing to sell mine back to me...
-

eh. i have the jgcc lift too and i have rancho rs5000's in the back and stock size shocks in the front.. works good for me!
-
sly that's what i had.. under my jeep i had 2 of them and under my s-10 i had just the 1. the pathy will get 2 also
-
sssh do what i am going to do. there are ways to get around the CA smog nazis. i am pulling my 137,000 mile original motor today, and basically setting it to one side. When i pick up the new motor Monday, that will be a direct drop in for my truck. then comes the fun part sly my "old" motor is going to be rebuilt from top to bottom.. bigger cams, p & p, all the goodies. I will smog my pathy with the new motor, then soon as that is done put the "souped up" motor back in her and i am good to go for another 2 years with the better/more power motor sly you always have a stock back-up..... and the motors will look identical to any cop who wants to check.. AND the bonus is she stays street legal....
