  1. When I was just started to drive, I overfilled the oil in my cutlass. Man did it smoke. I drained the excess oil and it ended up okay. Maybe you got an overfill?

The problem with the oil change place is that they put the fluids in with a nozzle dispenser. I've always had a phobia of getting brake fluid or tranny fluid instead of motor oil. I've never heard of this happening, but it looks like they could easily grab the wrong hose when they're trying to get you out in less than 5 minutes.

  2. I agree, however I would have never known the answer to the original question if the wiring installed by previous owner didn't need screwing with every time I hitch up.

It is on my to do list to solder and heat shrink as well. Take pride in knowing You will never be confused with a Red Neck! I however fully intend for my last words to be "HEY YA'LL WATCH THIS!"

  3. Determine Pathy’s MPG. Determine fuel tank capacity. Fill tank completely full. Reset odometer. Record Mileage when light comes on. Divide this mileage by MPG. Subtract total from Fuel tank Capacity. Multiply remainder by MPG. Total will be how many miles to total empty.

    Example….

    17.54 mpg

    20 gal. tank capacity

Light comes on at 301.9 miles.

301.9 / 17.54 = 17.21 Gallons of gas have been used before light comes on.

    20 - 17.21 = 2.79 Gallons of gas remains in tank

    2.79 x 17.54 = 48.94 miles to empty.

I do not know your fuel tank capacity, but it would be most important to know your remaining fuel when light comes on. MPG can fluctuate greatly by driving conditions. Also hesitation can occur with a gallon gas remaining in the tank.

Further warning may be philosophical, but I believe impurities in the gas can be more concentrated in an empty tank rather than a full tank. Empty tanks can also condensate. This can be bad for fuel system. You might want to consider a fill up after every 100 miles. There is no difference in cost putting 5 gallons of gas in a full tank or empty tank.

  4. Some of the plug and go "T" kits require you to run a few wires to the passenger side to (I ran them under the plastic moulding to hide them)

I'm with Mookie, I thought all wires were connected on driver side. Not true. If it helps you ID proper wires faster.

Left turn is - Blue & Gray w/ Red Stripe.

Brake is - Green & Yellow w/ Red Stripe.

Right turn ran to passenger side - Gray & Red w/ Red Stripe.

I tried to illustrate this with modern invention of electronic photo editing. RED NECK STYLE, Enjoy!

  5. i'm lookin at 9-16, and i'm completely lost. if anyone can tell me in laymans terms, or with a picture, i'd appreciate that.

88 should be ashamed for making Haynes Manual so useless. I'm going to put it on top of the phone book that raises the monitor.

    Good write-up!

  6. Gotta pretty good diagram on pg. 9-16 Haynes repair manual. It is bolted to the "cross shift shaft". It doesn't say if it can be reached from inside the cab. I will scan and e-mail you a PDF from work tommorow. If anyone has the book and access to scanner at home they are welcom to beat me to it.

  7. 31X11.5-15 kumho's mud grips at Tirerack.com to me seemed to be the most value for the buck when I was looking.

I ended up with B/F muds simply because I happened upon some money at the time I was ready to buy. I got them at Sams Club, they have to order them, but don't charge x-tra and installed for cheap.

The best advice I ever got was from SW.

go the muds, you know you want em
  8. Quick question for veteran member.... I've got the Pathy home and started stripping the interior. Have taken photo's of work done so far. What is proper etiquette for sharing photo's? Do I add to this post, or create a new post in pictures and video?

  9. Luckily tires were straight. have it on trailer at friends house now. not centered great for ride home, but have jack with rollers. should be easy to lift front and drag center, repeat for rear. Again quick response and accurate information helps a lot. Cudos Flapathy

  10. The problem is the seller is in the Navy. He and the Key are out to sea, but eventually I should get the key. I'm not familiar with the Pitman arm. I will do some search functions and post more question If I can't find anything

    Thanks
