    Common Problem w/ studs

     

    Don't be afraid of the search button. It's your friend especially with broken studs. A lot of people have got a shop to do the repair. It's a lot of work. If you do it yourself there's plenty of resources here to help you along the way.

     

    Desert riding in Arizona are you familiar?. Heard stories that ghost towns still exist that you can drive to for some cool off-road adventure. is that just rumor or a vacation worth planning?

  2. You've probably already been thru your umpteenth set of mud flaps. I tried to make my own with some wire mesh reinforcement. The hope is that it will prevent cracking at the attachment points.

     

    This is my first webpage and first homemade mudflap. Feel free to critic' and even make fun of. I hope it post correctly.

  3. For the tail light should I replace the whole thing or just the pplug for the light?

     

    I would replace whole thing. I replaced my running lights because they were cracked. I didn't consider trying to salvage covers for that reason. My advice is based off how easy it was to remove them. I have not removed my tail lights but don't think they would be any more difficult. Someone else may need to correct me though :hide:

  4. You might try to scavenge some replacement lights from the JunkYard. The good thing is all fit up thru '92 I think when they changed body style. Contact with the bulb sounds like your problem. If you go by way of junkyard, snag a new light switch too. It's an easy swap and can address the contact issue from both ends.

     

    I'm curious did all lights go out a once?

    I was not trying to be critical, but see now that it did sound that way. My apologies. Very nice install, clean. Gives engine bay lots of character.

  6. Very nice Luker, I can't believe I missed this post earlier. How much clearance from top of filter to hood in closed position? If the filter was angled up a little, would gravity encourage more oil to find it's way to the oil pan and make less spill? Are the hoses runing down firewall zip tied? If so do they require padding to protect from cuts?

  7. Not trying to POHO but.... I ripped out a driver side mud flap Wednesday and ended up with a nice mud puddle on top of my air intake box. (round one on top of motor '87). Had a K&N filter been installed would that have made me a candidate for the dreaded Hydro lock? The filter appears to be more vunerable to water not being encased. Perhaps there are some engineered designs to address water intake. Anybody know?

    I could not find an e-mail address for these guys, but there is a 89' 2-door with sunroof in tack. The outside gasket has buckled from UV exposure. Friday I will stop after work and see if they ship international and have e-mail. He sold me the lights and sliders for $100 USD. If shipping could cost could be at minimum He might pull the whole assembly and ship for $100 + shipping cost. WAVEY

  9. The muffler has a lifetime warranty. I asked the guy when I dropped it if the new muffler didn't have a skid plate to grind the old one off and install on new muffler. He says no problem. I look at it when I pick it up an notice one weld broke on a new skidplate. Still no big deal. I get home and look little closer and see that only 3 of the 6 welds held. This is the kicker, He didn't charge me parts or labor for the skid plate. Do I take it back and ask him to tack it right even if I didn't pay for it? Maybe he was afraid he'd burn hole in muffler?

     

    Anyway warranty will only cover muffler and pipes not add-ons. :angry: What would you do?

  10. Noticed last weekend I had broken my muffler loose. I thought it was just a cracked weld where the pipe joins Muffler. Yesterday she fell out in middle of road. I thought I could get by a month or so before replacing. Oh well trip to muffler shop this week. The searches I was able to find seem to recommend cheapest replacement possible since they are always getting beat pretty bad. Is that the general concensus?

  11. I opted to take wifey's expedition to pick-up my project pathy a few weeks backs thinking too much weight for jgc springs. After I got it home I moved the trailer around in the yard with the Pathy. Fender well still cleared top of tires by 1.5". that was a dual axle trailer w/ '92 pathy centered.

     

    It was probably good idea not to use the pathy, needless abuse on the rear end and most likely would have driven the 100+ miles in 4th.

  12. 18.4 mpg my new personal best! -bounce- I must admit I did cheat. :hide: My Grand Am lost the water pump so I've made the Pathy my DD. Went to Alabama this weekend 350 mi. round trip. Coming back got on the bumper of an 18 wheeler and drafted the whole way home. Ran at 3100rpm, no hills and no wind from Alabama to Louisiana.

  13. A water pump will make nasty squeel sounds when it startings going out. Easy to diagnose if you have anti-freeze. Remove skid plate, shine flashlight on front of motor from the bottom. If you see pretty emerald green drops of water, time for new water pump.

  14. Okay guys, I’m again a bachelor tonight so I have way to much time on my hands. This is the recipe for the perfect Rib Eye complete with pictures.

     

    1lb Rib Eye USDA Choice

    ½ cup of butter

    1 tsp of garlic

    1Tbsp Tony’s Creole

    ½ cup of red Merlot wine

     

    I was out of Livingston Cellars Merlot so I scrounged up some other cheap $2 dollar wine.

     

    Mix all ingredients and place on grill until butter is melted. After ingredients are melted/mixed coat both sides of steak with ingredients. You have to dig deep in the baste b/c the garlic sinks to the bottom. Place steak on grill. Find sweet spot on grill that will allow meat over flame but will not flash. Constant attention is required because butter encourages flashing. Turn meat 90 deg to give criss-cross grill stripes for presentation. Baste and lightly sprinkle w/ Tony’s Creole each time meat is moved.

    I know I’m going to hear some yak about the Rot Gut Bud Light. As I’ve said before Bud sponsored ECHL Kingfish Hockey and I will support any Brewery that brings culture to the South! -bounce- I do prefer to sip Merlot, but I forgot I was out and I wasn't gonna drink that other stuff :oops: .

     

    I've heard that Argentine beef is superior to USDA and French wines are surperior to California. I drive a Pathy not an overpriced Hummer. So this recipe and drink is within my budget. Since the wife is gone I didn't have to bake potatoes and bread and I got to leave some pink inside! :P

     

    Woops I almost forgot. Pour the rest of sauce in dipping cup. dip your each bite in lieu of using steak sauce.

  15. As far as damage to your ride, check your plugs and rinse them with some gas. They might foul with all that oil on them. Some experienced Mechanics can chime in and let you know if the overfill could cause problems with seals or gaskets. Like I said it happened to me once before, self inflicted. I just drained the oil and no problems afterwards. Hope it is nothing more than inconvinent.
