  1. Got to meet Bobby for the first time today. He took me to a trail by his house, lots of fun. It was dark and wet pretty much every rut scared you because it was either 1" or 1' deep. It was like driving in minefield.

Thanks for the new Trail Bobby, We'll do it again soon by my house!

  2. It's not difficult, just not fun. Very limited work space and dirty. If you can cover your starter before you change your oil filter you will get a longer life out of it. Both of my starters have died within a week of an oil change. Coincident? I think not.

  3. A buddy called me today in spot. Changing the brakes on his '92, the driver side he could not get the caliper back over the disk. He's using c-clamp to open them up.

He is sure the bleeder is cracked.

He is using c-clamp to back them out.

I think he has completely removed the caliper instead of leaving one side connected.

any tips he might try or could something slipped behind the caliper preventing it from opening completely?

He's not near a computer but if there is a simple fix I can give him a call and try to help him out.

My suggestion for the moment is to

    1.remove new pads

2.install thru bolt on top side of caliper

    3.completly remove bleeder

    4. reset new pads

    5. force calipers open with c-clamp

    6.slide caliper over disk

    7. re-install bottom caliper bolt

    7.5 re-tighten bleeder :nono: (edit)

    8. test brakes!

  4. Welcome Bobby!

Finally a new member in the same state!

Hope to see you this weekend, It's starting to look like Mom wants to go visit family Saturday. Can we move mud riding up to Friday afternoon instead of Saturday?

  5. yes its possible it's defective hopefully not! jumping it does nothing we also tested the wires for resistance and they came up with 00.5+/-

Hope not as well, starters are easy top of list of items not to do twice...

My last starter was a cheap reman, the guy at the store took the two he had in stock and tested them both. He sold me the one that made the least noise. I thought it was wierd, but old starters are louder than new starters.

No harm in getting the new one tested before you leave the store.

  6. The driverside headlamp has a pinhole from a rock 1/16" diameter. It's causing my bulb to burnout every 6months +/-. (probably moisture related more than time). Are there any products (Krazyglue?) that can seal the hole and withstand heat for that type application. A new headlamp is not that expensive, but if I could stick some $2 secret goo in there it would make me happier. Louisiana Inspections aren't tough so that's not a factor.

    Headlamp $33??

  7. not least of which because your engine is sucking in that wonderfully corrosive brake fluid.

You weren't kidding about the corrosive brake fluid. Under the reservoir the fender well was bare metal. I primed it while everything was out, but dripped quite a bit installing the master cylinder. Sprayed it down at the carwash this morning, but the fresh paint is probably gone already.

  8. Me joined the rounded off 10mm club today too. :D Replacing the master cylinder.

Ended up cutting them off w/ the sawsall at the master cylinder and re-flaring. PITA, the right tools would have helped.

hahaha yes, i now own a 10mm flare wrench

    I'm a slow learner.
