  1. I say watch creigslist I paid 120 for the 32' bfg's i run on the street already mounted on nice rims and I paid 185 for my swampers not on rims. PICT0020-4.jpg

this is not a great pic looks like stripper tires with the strange light, but each of those sets was under 200 dollars so don't give up.

  2. Every time i get a new vehicle the first thing I do is make a hidden switch to turn off the main power lead to the ecm. This makes it very hard for people to figure out whats going on. The vehicle still gets power but nothing works right and it will not run. I would list some great locations but you will have to find your own as I do not want to post mine online. My pathfinder has sat unlocked (problems with lock system it unlocks itself randomly and sometimes will not unlock) In a very pron for car theft area. Someone did try to steal it one time i know of they removed the steering collom cover pulled the ignition assembly out, but gave up only part i had to replace was the plastic cover as they ripped it off.

  3. I never got to meet pachie88 but he always seemed like a nice guy here on the boards, Always quick to reply if he knew how to help you or had a idea. The one thing we all have to think about on this occasion is at least he went out doing something he loved doing and probably went out a happy person just like the way he lived.

  4. i heard somewhere that all pathfinder bodys have the threads to install the tire mounts, just that alot of them have the threads hidden behind sheet metal and getting to them without screwing them up is a bitch.

I added a tire carrier to mine, the threaded parts are there for the 2 mounts that go under the rear hatch but the 4 bolts on the corner that carry the weight are not there unless it came with one the top set is not hard to add but the bottom set is a supper pain. I ended up cutting out parts from the inside to add it then welding up new supports inside to make it able to carry the weight.

  5. I just bought a Pathy LE from 1995, which has the apre tire mounted inside the trunk on the drivers side. I'd like to be able to use that space. Where could I find a spare tire carrier for the outside of my vehicle?

    Pic related, my Pathfinder!

There are already threads on this, But you can pull 1 from a junkyard or buy one off 4x4parts.com or you can get 1 from the nissan dealer (they will not install them though) This is not a project for your average guy, It takes fabing cutting and altering stuff to get the mounts inside the sheetmetal for it. The ones that have it from the factory, the sheetmetal was formed around the brackets.

  6. My offroad tire are 33x12.5r15 tsl swampers on 15x8 rims with 3.75 backspacing. Here is a pic,PICT0226.jpgThey are over 34" tall on these rims though, Also should note they are original TSL's before they re did the caucuses to make more inline with other company's tire sizes with I think happened in 99.

  7. What ever happened to the good coverage of rally races. Just because 5 times more camera men died compared to driver is no reason not to cover it good. Rally races are the funnest races to watch in my opinion, and you see cars from a POS to a supper modified and the POS can still win. I would comment more on speed channel but I gave up TV a few years ago when I figured out its just a waste of time.

  8. well i just dont wana have to swap the rear gears im gona run the stock motor till she blows only have 1 and 2nd gear now 3rd blew (auto). the rear gears are 464 gears and its hard to find xteras at junk yards around here. i wana build this sas and motor swap 4 dirt cheap just so ppl can c what they can build if they wait for deals and roam the junk yards. got my axle pulled outa the rig and put in the back of my truck for 250$ not 2 bad. oh and btw i wana put the new ring and pinion in by myself so if anyone knows of any good books or websites let me know. i can get gears put in it for 500$ including gears but it would be cool 2 do it myself.

The xterra rear diff complete was sent half way across the counter to me for 240 with shipping with 30,000 miles on them so less then a shop cost to set them up and can make it match the spline count by stilling parts out of your rear diff without resetting up gears. try some of the online used parts vendors. Side note if you get the 2wd xterra rear diff the abs is plug and play but not with the 4wd rear diff.

  9. got my dana 44 outa a 88 wagoneer getting ready 4 the sas what gears are you guys putting in them to get close to the stock rear gears? and i have a 302 insted of a 360 with a c4 tranny and an np205 planing on doing the dubbler kit on it. sas first then ill change the heart.

    P1000429.jpg

I am getting ready to do a waggy swap as well, I am using gunine gear 4.89 in the front and xterra 4.9 gears in the rear, This gives a little bit of pull to the front that works very well offroad. I am sticking with the stock engine tranny for now though.

  10. The new tires are now on on the smalls 6 inches wide chrome wheels and it fit perfectly, but when i hit a huge bump while off-roading the wheel get all the way into the fender and hit the the plastic inner and 2 screw/bolts that are there. is there a way to crank the bars more than the maximum? i didn't cranked it to the max but i know i ain't far from it. And i will need to level up the rear do you know where to get a coil spacer bushing that would fit under the rear coils so i can get at least 1" or 1.5" max. i know some other coils can fit but i have no idea were to get them none in my local junkyard.

ill try to crank it up a little more and get this beast aligned.

thanks for the reply about the CV i check that soon but I'm attending a local car show this weekend so i can't put a lot of time on it. i will also have to change a front caliper that is leaking from the piston.

Besides just cranking them you can re index them if you are still clear of the bump stops, I am attaching a link of a wright up on how to do this.re index

    Hope that helps.

I personally like retreads about as much as I like fiberglass body panels...

    (I don't)

Nunya I agree with you about the retreads and the fiberglass body panels, but I would much rather have some fiberglass then a retread that is going to blow out and destroy my pathfinder. I shouldn't talk though the swampers I run to the trail and offroad were made in 1998 lol, but no dry rot and still hold air, have lots of tread. It is just a pain to get them mounted because no tire company will mount them because of liability, of well thats what starting fluid is used 4 lol

  12. I belive the 90-95 has the rear bolts for the 4 door

where as the 86-90 includes the rare 90 2door

why are you going to BL a SAS? I suppose it makes things easier to work on / reach but other than that all the lift you need can be added via the sas...

I am going to leave my body lift on when I do my SAS as well. Not so much for the lift but for how much easier a pathfinder is to work on with one installed. Changing the oil filter with no body lift pain in the azz with body lift simply pull filter between body and frame. Same with the starter you can just reach in the side and change it (if you have tried to change starter without body lift you understand this 1 lol. Changing the motor mounts easy with a body lift. Broken manifold studs are almost imposable to get to without a body lift with it you can use a extractor without removing anything except the manifold witch you can pull out the side as well. These are a few of the many things that are easier to do with a body lift.

Also the statement in last post about the rear bolts that is the only difference and both body lifts have the 90 listed because you could get it as a 2 door or 4 door.

  13. i know the manastash ridge area pretty well after spending 3 years out there for school

That is Kinda a long run for us Oregon guys, But I have never been there and love wheeling new places. Some questions about that spot though, Is there camping. If I drive that far in the morning wheel all day I don't think I will want to drive all the way home at night. So will this be held on a saturday?

  14. Can you post up anymore information on that location? Not a bad idea. I have thought of Tillimook, but we have to have enough takers. As long as the Mr.Jim run continues, we should be able to go to all of the NW trail systems at some point.

Is this what you are talking about???

    http://www.nmaoffroad.org/orvguide/orv11.html

No that is not where i am talking about, but i just went and looked up info on it and it will not be ready by the time this is. If you want info on it though a local group called pistons wild has been very involved in the project and have lots of info on there webpage. there page is at pistons wild

  15. I would suggest somewhere a little more south. A great place would be yacama burns trail system if it open by time. That is a new trail system that has been being developed the last 2 years. That is just north east of Vancouver Washington.

Or there is browns camp in Tillamok State forest, It wouldn't be the most exiting for me though as it is my local stomping grounds, but it dose have trails from easy enough for stock, to you better have a supper rig and not be worried about beating it, This would let us brake up into smaller same class rigs to do trails to there level but still have like a lunch and end of day meet up sence its all at the same spot.

Thats just my 2 cents on it.

  16. Hey in a couple months im going to replace my tires. Atm i got 31x10.50 Duelers APT. Been looking at these- http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ICT-LTB-01/. How many miles ya think id get out of them? Mainly be driving out 20-30 miles a day average and muddin on weekends.

If you are going to use them for street and offroad get a set of the ssr's in 31x12.50R15LT SSR-09R

    31x10.50R15LT SSR-07R

With the bias ply every cold morning you will have flat spots on the tires and have a very bumpy morning. I have a set of the bias ply in 33's and they are really ruff when they have flat spots. I use mine for offroad only, i run BFG all terrains on the road. the SSR's will last much longer on the street and still have very god offroad performance. I think the Iroks work last longer on the street and do unbelievable offroad but the smallest size available is a 33".

  17. I am sure alot will not agree with me but I would just get a lockright for the rear instead of the ARB and spend the extra on skid plates and sliders for your rig, If you are set on eather the winch or a ARB I would get a ARB for the front axle and still use a cheep lockright in the rear.

  18. I run 32" BFG AT for street use they are pretty quite in my opinion only a little noise, But when i put my origonal design 33" bias ply swampers on you can hear me comming from miles away lol, with the swampers by the time you hit 45 you can no longer hear the engine at all it is very loud.

  19. My used '95 Pathfinder XE-V6 has a heavy gasoline smell inside the

cab when I first start it up in the morning !

Doesn't do that later in the day.

Where could this be coming from and how can I fix it ?

Everything else has been working fine after my Timing Belt Change

with the addition of a Transmission Cooler that I posted hereabouts.

    (Knock on wood!)

    DoctorBill

It is a common problem for the clamps on balance hose between the 2 fuel rails to come lose and when the system primes fuel will come out. It only takes a few minutes to fix. There is s few postings about this but i dont have time to find the links right now.
