  1. Glad it wasn't the diff. Still love your pathy think its my favorite r50. On the jack stand thing Guess I am dangerous like you as I only use jack stands when the vehicle is going to be sitting there quite a while. I am like you and jack it up fix it drop it back down done. Although like right now I am using them on my pathfinder but there is nothing under the front like contol arm for it to land on it would drop far and land on the front hanger.

  2. D30s are ok, gearing is ok also, I bought one sunday with 4.88s and chromoly shafts for 300 bucks. Now I just need a 4.9 rear pig.

d30 dont break, OSR, there housings bend, if there breaking shafts there housing is already bent.

You find them from 25-400 bucks, with higher end ones being sold around 400. For a pathfinder there fine, there like a toyota axle but cheaper too find.

Also, OSR, if there breaking axles or housings with tires less then 33"s then there beating the living @!*% out of there trucks.

For an aol lift there good enough.

Now if the OP is looking to run 34+ inch tires then yes a d44 will work loads better then a d30. And in that case I would say get a large knuckle ford d44 front.

I have seen dana 30's snap axle shafts on 32" tires. I have seen the housings bend being pushed on a rock trying 2 get up. Everyone I wheel with that had a dana 30 has destroyed it in one way or another. Only exception is a few Cherokees that run with us but they have the 30's built with cromaly shafts, gussets, outer tube sleeves and so forth while running around 33" tires. Comparing a dana 30 to a toyota axle is not a good comparison as the design of the toyota axle makes it about 3 times stronger then the dana 30. I should say though we run our rigs extreme offroad situations and the IFS in the pathfinder had to be rebuilt after each trail run hence the reason the dana 44 is going in.

  3. Make sure they replace the pilot bearing if they take it apart. My mechanic said he did, but it sounds like it's making noise when I engage the clutch.

This is why you learn to fix your own stuff so you know what was done. Although some times that is not possible.

  4. Brownscamp is in Tillamook. I've never been with a truck only with a bike and quad so I can't really say how it would be on the body panels. I think Bonez has the best background knowledge for BrownsCamp

Browns camp in tillamook state forest is the largest legal offroad area in the state of oregon. I have spent many many of days up there and have run lots of the trails from easy enough a car can drive it to you getting winched up rock faces. There are trails for any level of experienced driver. There are over 100 miles of trails in TSF. Also If by some amazing feet you manage to do all the trails (I still have a few I have not done) you can go down the street a few miles and go to the trask OHV area that is a little smaller. The best thing about TSF is there is Such a variety of trails.

  5. can someone tell me where i can get a lift kit for my 1992 pathy WD21 i cant seem to find it anywhere and its my bday in a couple of weeks and i would like to have by them im turning 19 so please help no body lift mine isnt stick its auto

    try lift information

That will point you in the right direction to find 1. Also you can use a body lift for the same year rig with a manual, Your autos cable is plenty long enough several people have done it. I would upgrade the steering before i did a lift if I was going to do it again.

  6. G'day all, just wondering if anyone out there has any tips or advice to help my R3m from almost overheating... A 10 minute drive on a hot day and the temperature gauge is up to about 3/4. Is an inter-cooler the only answer as they can be expensive?

Have you pulled the thermostat and checked if it is stuck?

  7. Maybe the changed manufacturing sites/specs/vendors?

I know of 3 different versions of the M8000 winch. The old one is the best, The differences I know of is the gears differ not in size or in gear count but in the quality of the material used, and quality of wires and sobered vs crimped wire ends, The early ones have better quality selinoids like you see in there higher end winch's now. The newer ones have the cheep ones that don't seem to last long at all. On average Warn is a great company, but the M5000 and M8000 are now made elsewhere and bagged warn so they can compete with cheaper company's.

  8. well first off i getting married on the 7th of august. i know i know she's crazy but i love her. now on to the build i am adding a engine coolant raw water heat exchanger to my pathy to help her appreciate my truck and camping more . Nothing too fancy a 12v hardwired pump some copper tubing a pvc cylinder and raw water connections hoses valves blah blah blah. the idea for those new to this is cold water is pumped into system heated by coolant from warm and running pathy and come out as warm water for shower, dishes, clothes etc. now of course i intend to split raw water line before cylinder and valve it so as to control temp much like at home. thoughts ????

Are you thinking about a onboard tank or just a fitting to hook a hose 2? We use heat exchangers allot at my work on marine products. Remember a 3 pass style will warm or cool (depending on application) the water about 6 times as much as a single pass style. Also the more tubes in your exchanger the more efficient it will be. We use brass ones most of the time. We use them for the opposite we use the river water to cool the anti freeze. This is a interesting project you are working on I can't wait to see how it turns out.

  9. If i still had all the matchbox cars that I destroyed NIB I'd be rich lol...LINCOLN LOGS MATCHBOX CARS...NES...AND THQTS ABOUT ALL I HAD WITH SOME GI JOES AND NINJA TURTLES...

sorry about the caps...didn't notice I had them locked on the phone and I'm lazy

That is funny you listed my childhood toys besides my bb gun. On GrimGreg's comment Try this I have the origonal battletech robot toy number 548 Still in its box witch most of is in japan's.

  10. I always thought it was funny that the same people who complained about Microsoft software (DOS, Windows, IE, etc.), were the ones praising their hardware (360) .

Sony has always been a good electronics company, aside from needing some laser adjustments, I have never had a problem with their game systems. I bought a PS1 after our Sega Genesis/32x/CD got stolen, then bought the PS2 because of backwards compatibility and continuing series releases of games I loved on PS1. I bought a PS3 when they got below $500 because it had backwards compatibility (original models), Blu-Ray (stand alone BR players were still $500+), and the hope of continued series games. There was only 1 game series on 360 that I ever wanted to play that was exclusive (MechAssult), so why would I waste my money on one?

If you like the mech games try the armor core series on the PS3.

  11. I'll have to look into the centerlink. I have the steering stabilizer kit sitting in my garage, just haven't had time to do more than put the idler arm brace in. It's been sitting for a month, just too damn cold lately, and the 6 month old eats most of my time. There is still tons of stuff I need to do. New manual hubs, repack the wheel bearings, probably new ball joints, new fan, find and fix a small leak from I think the power steering. Plenty of work, enough that I have probably sold the Dana 44 taking up half of my garage.

Just to let you know running a steering stabilizer kit and idler arm brace with my 33's. The stock centerlink lasted my 2 wheeling runs before it went to junk. I guess I should also note as anyone that has wheeled with me knows I do wheel my junk hard, I am completely willing to run trails way harder then my rig should run. Where i tosted my stock centerlink was on rocky uphill in TSF going the hard way (up the step side down the mild side). Soon as I manage to actually get my SAS done I will have allot of performance front end parts I take out counting a good centerlink.

  12. Hi Dwilly, I go by BoneZ here I am located in Tualatin,OR so not far from you. I Run a 91 pathfinder. You can see my pathfinder at Rattle Trap. I have a 3" BL and A 3" SL and still had to trim my fenders to fit my 33's but they are over sized 33's. I would be glade to help but I haven't had the time to Work on my own pathfinder lately It is down tell I finish the SAS. I would very much suggest looking into a better centerlink like the one sold on grassroots.com. The stock centerlink will not hold up to the 33's.

  13. Rant ahead

I agree Walmart's are evil I have been saying it since the 90's when one moved into a town near my home town. Now the downturn In are economy I think the major contributor to this is all the raises to minimum wadge, Do people not understand every time minimum wadge goes up it just makes money worth less, so every time it goes up everyone that makes more then minimum wadge is loosing money, It also makes it so company's can not compete with foreign manufactures on the same product. America was built on the working mans shoulders it was held up by the working man. We grew crops, built are own products and still had plenty to ship around the world. Now Media pushes being a paper pusher is the better way to make a living, I completely disagree. If you look at peoples lifes most of the people that work hard and make something go home after work with satisfaction that they were productive and made something that will be used for years to come. Someone that push's paper all day is just glad to get away from work with no satisfaction in what we do. The solution to our problems is less desk jobs more manufacturing jobs and a freeze on minimum wadge increases. Also we need to be able to use our natural resources, For instance since bill clinton signed a contract as our president it gave the japan's the rights to take more fish out of American waters then the American fishers are allowed to by 50 times over. That contract was for a 12 year period. Logging is another instance we can't cut old growth but can cut young trees we plant, what is up with that it should be the other way around you trees should have to be such a age or more to cut, it is also regulated to. These are the best instances I can give but it is probably because I grew up in a logging and fishing community that is now poverty land. people who live there are eather retired, on welfare or work at walmart because every other job was regulated by our government out of existence. If we had state over fedral laws I delive the united states would not be stuck in the downword spiral. States could allow for the proper things to be done for there inviroment not having someone on the other side of the country saying how it needs to work.

/rant off thanks for reading if you did.

  14. Here, this is right in your area....

    http://www.pnw4wda.org/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=76&day=2010-10-3&c=1

    Contact someone and get involved!

Wait, it happened on the 3rd. Still, contact someone and find when the next one is.

That link is not to a work party that is to a event the piston wilds have held the last few years raising money for the new trail system being made in the yacoma burns outside vancouver washionton. Although if you get on there wed page at pistons wild they have been having clean ups in the area of the trail system in development.

  15. Hey i need some service hours for my high school senior project. Anyone know of any OHV or 4x4 parks doing work partys?

I will try to post up the next browns camp work party for you i usally hear about them, and its not that far for you.

  16. Thanks for the information though, someone will need it. A simple FYI, the WD21 stud thread pitch is M8x1.25.

    B

My pathfinder is 8 x 1.25 like B said except 4, 1 hole but thats because of the previous owner drilling and tapping that 1 hole up to a 3/8" hole. I really dont know why it was done it makes it a pain to work on that side.

  17. Bah,you folks just dont know how to drive on ice with swampers is all.Yeah they suck but as Pinky stated all M/T's suck.So get Boogers or Trxus's or Iroc's.Iroc's are a great tire on rocks. And from the photos the guy posted it doesnt look bad,a All terrain could do that with out a problem. But if you want the best/most aggressive tire you can buy get boggers or irocs.

As far as road noise?Have you ever heard Mud grapplers, ground hawgs and Pit bull tires? They all sound the same.

I normally don't agree with nismothunder but Iroks are great tires, I want a set for my pathfinder but to get them in 33's you have to go up to 17" rims. Maybe down the road when the pathy ends up high enough to run 36" tires ill go with Iroks.

  18. Hey all, just curious to see who all is in my area. I live in Mount Vernon by Skagit Valley College. Shoot me a PM, I'd like to meet some local Pathfinder owners.

    Adam

I am from down in Oregon but thought I would let you know this weekend there Is a NPORA 4x4 run up in WA, quite a few people are attending here is a link to the post. mr. jim run

  19. Awesome! Thanks for the tips, this a great forum, very active members. :bounce:

I will try tightening the VC bolts when I get home. As for the Voltage Regulator had the dealership order me one (I'm not the electrical type, rather just replace the part), cost is about $50. Probably give the tint removal a try this weekend.

As for the carpet, thinking about replacing all the carpet w/vinyl, anybody used this stuff? Thoughts?

    http://info.rockauto.com/ACC/Vinyl.htm

    Pics forthcoming.

I would suggest pulling the carpet and using a thick bed liner. easier to clean stuff doesn't slide around and If ou buy a quality on they have sound deadening.

  20. OK here is the real way to do it with the 2 vehicles listed, You sale one and buy a WD-21 pathy and use the spare money to do a 3+3 lift tires sliders and bumpers and a lockright. :takebow:

OK on a real note out of the 2 you listed I would use the X because of having a frame. There is also allot more aftermarket support for the x.
