  1. When the time comes I am going to put the molded vinyl back into mine. I love it in the farm trucks it cleans up well and still gives you the sound dampening of carpet because it has a back to it. Or at least those do for the chevy trucks.... If it does not come with a back i will dynomat the floors and then lay the vinyl on top of that....

    is dynomat really that good?

  2. I'm probably going to get beaten with a stick for this :stickwack: but here it goes...

Rip the entire carpet out and Line-X it! Then just add some rubber mats on the top for looks.

    :stickwack:

lol. it is still my DD ya know

  3. +2 It gets hot down here in south Louisiana! I've seen 104 on the outside temp gage on my titan, and I know thats nothing for states like Arizona but its still hot.

So where are you planning to mount the second battery?

    James

yeah man, i need my AC.

I like my mean green alt, but I only paid for 1/2 of it, lol. I'd still like to get my spare respooled at some point.

  4. The vehicle headliner is divided into two seperate parts, a front and rear part. The joint between the two is under the padded center roof garnish where the front dome light mounts.

Maroon is color code is A. Red is code R.

There are two basic grades, the DX/X/E/XE and the SE/LE grade headliners.

SE/LE are soft velour. The others are not.

To get the speakers holes above you will need a rear headliner made after 07/92.

soft velour? my headliner doesnt feel very soft

  5. LOL I was pushing a 79 GS550E so yeah, pretty much the same. The first 100 yards was "Not so bad, I can do this..." and the last 100 yards was "I'm never doing this again!!". A 200 yard 'short cut' was gravel but the only hill was the last 100 yards... :D

Haha, been there and done that too. A guy in a pickup even offered to put it in the back for me and I refused and said I could manage.

    Dumb

  6. Hi, can anyone tell me what the color options (exterior and interior)were for '91, and possibly how many were produced? My Pathy's dark red with a red interior and I'm trying to find a few interior parts (the driver's seat belt is badly frayed, for example, and maybe a headliner with the rear speaker panel up top (I'm not sure what years had that option, though) so I can get rid of the space-wasting pods on the sides. Can that be done if you have the interior spare tire carrier?)

There are tons of those ugly red interiors around here.

I just did the speaker panel mod, it will fit in your pathfinder, but you need to take the crossbrace that the speaker panel mounts to from the donor car too

  7. BTW I don't know if this has been said before but...

You guys do know if you do anything to change the power output of your engine, the AUTO transmission WILL SLIP and the manual may blow up sooner.

I disagree with that somewhat. If the transmissions are in good condition I don't see why they wouldnt work still.

The same transmissions were used in the R50 - and they had 30 more HP stock in the VG33 models and even more in the 3.5L version.

  8. I was thinking of cutting a couple of 2inch hole on the floor just above the shifter when I did my wifes transnission so I can access it from above coz it took me a long time to get those 2 top bolts out without having to use long extensions flex extensions and somebody underneath the truck guiding my socket on those bolts

best way is to use long extensions and wobble sockets unless you go through the shifter. its not that bad really

  9. Its really not that bad of a job. A friend helped me do it and I had almost no mechanical knowlege at the time. I was really surprised how straight forward it was. Like everyone said, make sure you bag everything and take your time.

I would say that 2 people working on it at a time is enough. Not much room to have a 3rd person.

If you are going to install headers or cams now is the time to do it too.

  10. These guys sell full carpet and vinyl sets for Pathys. Including the cargo area.

    http://www.auto-interior.com/nissan6.htm

Yeah thats the stuff that Rockauto sells too. Apparently all aftermarket carpets are made by Auto Custom Carpets.

I have just read a few bad things about them and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with them. Lots of mustang guys swear by them, and its the stuff carpet shops put into cars so I'm thinking its probably good.

  11. Ususally once it is torn out, not much goes back in... :D

Do you need to replace all of it? No junk yard or part out units good enough??

    B

just the front section where it has worn out under peoples feet. I'll have to look at a few more yards, but the ones I have been to so far dont have the right color.

Exactly, all it does is collect dirt and water and look like ass, lol.

lol, its still more comfortable and better to look at than bare metal.

  12. Well, I think that a locker makes a huge difference on the trails, but even a locker can't get you out of every situation and I think that a winch should come first. I know that I get so used to having the winch that I put myself in situations that can get me in trouble when I am driving a rig without one.

A winch should be first, then lockers for sure, and to top it off you should get good sliders. Some other things to consider are a strong fast air compressor to be able to air down on the trails, a nice roof rack to carry shovels, hi-lift jacks, extra spare tire, etc. If you spend allot of time on serious trails, then an ARB bumper would be a good investment and a good aftermarket rear bumper would not be a bad idea either. A body lift is a cheap way to get better tire clearance without changing the geometry of the driveline.

    Hope this helps...

    MrJim

Yeah, I've got a pretty good roof rack/lights, hi-lift etc. Definitely want the bigger air compressor when I do the ARB lockers.

Will be getting the sliders pretty soon courtesy of my GF, and I would love a rear bumper - similar to the one KMA makes but cheaper haha.

  13. The Calmini Idler Arm brace I have installed without any trouble and has so far worked like a champ.

Calmini also makes a very nice panhard drop bracket. Again, no problems so far.

For the midpipe, Look at the following:

    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-642510/

serves nicely as a midpipe and helps isolate the engine vibration and resonance from the rest of the exhaust system.

    my calmini brace works too.

however the point is we would like other options - cheaper if possible. calminis drop down bracket is downright expensive.

we also need a place to put the 02 sensor on the midpipe so that option wont work.

  14. Has anyone bought new replacement carpet before? Charcoal = gray for our trucks right?

I want to replace my passenger compartment carpet because its falling apart in the front.

Rock Auto has Molded cut pile or vinyl for $160 or they have a Mass back option for $208.

Does the Mass Back actually provide good insulation/sound deadening or am I better off putting dynomat in there?
