  1. I played with the MAF wire, did not feel or see anything wrong with it however after putting it back on the truck runs fine.
  2. Was running down the freeway last night and all at once the truck started to mis. I checked all the plugs and all are burning well. Are the injectors something that goes out on these often? Any ideas? I have 127,000 miles. Thanks!
  3. Well I just replaced the timing belt and counted teeth both between the cams and the crank so I think its on. Im sure that if I have enough adjustment on the distributor that if I was off on the cam I would have just retarded cam timing and not the ignition timing, provided I had the adjustment there. Just to confirm, the marks on the crank are 0-5-10-15* BTDC correct? The pinging is very slight, alot of people would not notice it but I hear it when under load. If I pull back to 5* it goes away. I'm at 10* and it comes back. I ran 91 octane and it helped the pinging but the truck did not perform as well as with 89. I think 87 with the timing correct would be the best for this low compression engine but I can't seem to get a full 10* out of it even.
  4. Just went on a 700+ mile trip and got 17mpg there and 23 mpg back. On the way there I was pushing wind, on the way back the wind died off and I could get some MPGs. City driving is 16ish
  5. Ok if I am getting a knock at 10* why would I go to 15*? You guys lost me here. Also to answer your question about 89 octane fuel. It burns slower than 87 which will help eliminate the knock.
  6. Brand new belt. Had this problem before the new belt as well. It runs better at 10 TDC but will ping under load. I guess I will try 8* which is low. Is this specific to the VG?
  7. 10 degrees TDC and ping ping ping under load. I have to run a very low TDC to get rid of the ping. I run 89 octane. Are these motors picky or what? Mark
  8. Wel I have exhaust leaks on both manifolds so headers are in order and may help a bit.
  9. One slow ass Pathy! Having the AC on hits you double. Not only do you get the drag of the compressor but you get the drag of the fan. How many who have done the electric fan mod believe it helps? Mark
  10. Im going to call and see if they will do just a few sets and see what the price is.
  11. Lets end it here, not enough interest. I need 10, but we are now at 3. If we see a interest in the future great we will try again. In the mean time I will be buying a set as cheap as I can find them since both manifolds are leaking. Mark
  12. Lets get a final count of who is in and I'll make the call. Let me know. Mark
  13. I needed 10 people and lost some, where are we? Did we get a few back? Add yourself to the last list. Lets get a final count and confirmation by Monday the 7th and I will try and get them to do it with the number of people we end up with. Once I get a confirmation it is a go!

  15. I agree, I do manual alignments on the Spec Miata more times than I care to.

  17. Exactly! Also something you may want to try is Redline Water Wetter, we use it in our race cars to run a bit cooler. Do you still have the pan under the motor? It is a metal pan bolted under the front of the engine and radiator. This piece helps cooling and when removed you will see higher temps.
  18. Check your timing, make sure it is just at 15 degrees, anything higher will make it run hotter under load. You can run a larger aluminum radiator by running another core. The radiator will be thicker so you will want to run a electric cooling fan for clearance. Mark
